Here’s what all you RiRi fans ought to know about the Fenty x Puma collection…
About the collection
Staying true to her style, the collection was a monochrome palette with a sporty-chic-meets-goth vibe which could easily also make up for some sexy streetwear. RiRi being the bad gal that she is, never shied away from baring a little skin and it definitely showed in her designs.
The collection debut saw the who’s-who of the industry in attendance, from Chris Rock to Jeremy Scott, Anna Wintour, and Naomi Campbell too. However, it was the Hadid sisters that stole the show when Bella walked the ramp and Gigi closed the show.
The Creeper sneakers
Rihanna’s first ever sneaker collab with Puma in 2015 featured the Creeper sneaker collection which, not surprisingly, was sold out within hours of release. The silhouette of the sneaker was a variation of the brand’s classic Suede sneaker but pimped up in black and white to give it a typical RiRi’s revamp.
Make way for the fur slides
After the successful launch of its Creepers, RiRi and Puma’s next launch was the faux fur slides earlier this year. Another variation of an ongoing silhouette, the Leadcat slides, the foot strap was replaced with faux fur for a more luxe appeal, released in black, white and muted ‘shell’ pink colourways.
The Creepers return in May
...And they’re gone again in 35 minutes! And how could they not be? The three new colorways released in white (White Glo), black (Black Satin) and green (Green-Bordeaux) were everything RiRi fans had been waiting for!
The next best thing
While all of RiRi’s previous collaborations were variations of the existing Puma silhouettes, the all-new Rihanna x Puma Fenty Trainer became their first ever original sneaker creation that debuted in three interestingly named colourways- Red Alert, Blackout and Whiteout. This laceless slip-on with an exaggerated tongue flap instantly became an athleisure essential.
The wait for the camo
By now it’s been established that Rihanna’s Creepers are the best selling and the forever sold-out ones. While Puma’s been at it, releasing sneakers in newer colours and varied textures, trying to keep up, the one sneaker that’s got us waiting for it like none other is the newest camo sneaker. If leaked photos are to be believed, it’s the perfect combination of tan and orange.
