Being able to recreate salon-worthy beauty procedures at home is a terribly underrated skill. Yes, we said it — even though you can always take yourself to a salon, being able to care for your skin and hair at home is an extremely good skill to learn. And one particular salon service that you should ace, and alternate with a professional session, is doing your own hair spa. This is especially helpful in the cold and harsh winter season where your hair might need a couple of more hair spa sessions compared to other seasons. So, instead of breaking your bank to get one at a salon every single time, we have a simple procedure you can follow at home. Check it out...
- Step 01: Head massage
- Step 02: Steam with a steamer or use a hot towel wrap
- Step 03: Shampoo
- Step 04: Deep condition
- Step 05: Leave-in treatment and air dry
Step 01: Head massage

The head massage done during a hair spa is more thorough than your regular champi. Start by detangling your hair with a wide-toothed comb and separate them into sections. Apply a super nourishing, yet lightweight hair oil, our favourite is the Clinic Plus Non Sticky Nourishing Hair Oil. Start with your scalp and slowly work the oil to the ends, brushing out your hair once more after you are done. Instead of rustling your hair too much, apply gentle pressure to push the oil into the scalp instead of rubbing it on your scalp.
Step 02: Steam with a steamer or use a hot towel wrap

Applying steam to oiled hair helps better absorption of its nutrients into the cuticles. You can either use a steamer to blow the steam directly in your hair or dip a small towel in a bowl of hot water and cover your head with it. Steaming should be done for not more than 15 minutes as the heat can start to irritate the scalp. Let your hair rest in a protective hairstyle for 2-3 hours before you move on to the next step.
Step 03: Shampoo

After your scalp has been kept oiled for a couple of hours, you need to wash it off. To enhance the results of the hair spa, use the Tresemme Hair Spa Rejuvenation Shampoo instead of any regular hair cleanser. The marine minerals infused formula gently cleanses your hair, without drying it out too much. Use the rinse and repeat method to completely eliminate the hair oil before moving onto the next step.
Step 04: Deep condition

Now for the star of the show — the deep conditioning step! Follow up your hair wash with the Tresemme Hair Spa Rejuvenation Conditioner to really lock in the moisture into your tresses. Apply the conditioner from mid-lengths to the end and brush through gently with a shampoo comb and spread out the product evenly. Keep the mask on for at least 15-20 minutes for the conditioner to work its magic. Winter dryness can often lead to a dull and tired mane, and this step can help revive those nutrient-starved tresses.
Step 05: Leave-in treatment and air dry

After thoroughly washing off the mask, use your hands gently to scrunch your hair and get rid of excess water. Work in the TIGI Bed Head Control Freak Frizz Control And Straightener Serum on a still damp mane and let it air dry. The leave-in treatment makes sure you do not lose moisture throughout the day and keeps your tresses frizz-free and shiny.
