International Day of Happiness has to be one of my favourite make-a-day-out-of-something-silly days. The whole idea behind it is simple...stop, take a breather, take time to appreciate the little things, and smile more often. Even though the world seems to have come to a grinding halt due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak, it is essential to keep doing the things that make us happy. So instead of sulking over being indoors or fretting about what might be, we’re encouraging you to do the simple things. These instant pick-me-ups can either be a nice hot meal, a good indoor workout, or an indulgent beauty routine. As long as it brings a smile to your face, it's worth doing.

Team BeBeautiful has their own little quirks when it comes to amping up their happiness quotient. Some like to keep it simple with masking, while others get just a little bit weird with their TLC preferences. Let's take a look at what turns Team BB's frown upside down!

"Masking! I think it's the most relaxing and rejuvenating thing ever. My skincare cabinet is filled with sheet masks and clay masks. After a tiring day or over the weekend, I pick a mask, apply it on my face and read or listen to some relaxing music to instantly uplift my mood. This makes both me and my skin very happy!"

"Being a beauty newbie, my beauty routine is pretty chill. With a pretty chill beauty routine comes a lot of skin issues, one of them being open pores. As weird as it sounds, I love extracting blackheads off my T-zone. It's weirdly satisfying, I don't recommend anyone to do it, but that's something I do every Sunday without fail."

"I’m a self proclaimed manicure buff. My weekend to-do list almost always includes trying out a new nail art I pinned or simply buying a new shade, if nothing else. I've got like hundreds of nail colours and it really keeps my happiness quotient up."

"Catching up on my beauty sleep is what makes me super happy. Other than this, I really enjoy a pampering pedicure session or a foot massage. And when I am in the mood to just relax, I put on a face mask, grab a book and pour myself a glass of wine."

"One of the first things I do after waking up is make myself a detox drink. I like celery juice with lemon and raw honey. It tastes delicious and is an instant energizer. Apart from its dietary benefits, celery is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Drinking it first thing in the morning keeps my skin looking fresh and taut all day long. Knowing that I’m investing in a little self-care makes me happy!"

"Treating myself to a relaxing bath with one of those lovely bath gels after a long day instantly uplifts my mood. I also tend to put on some music and indulge in my favourite food (junk, of course) for a quick pick-me-up."

"My absolute favourite thing to do every day is my skincare routine. Mainly because it makes my skin feel so refreshed and happy that it's an instant mood uplifter. And on weekends, I love to take an hour to perfect my makeup before I step out. Sometimes I'll even try out a new eyeliner trend."
