Monsoon brings with it a lot of good things (respite from the scorching summer sun tops the list) and some not-so-good things like excessively oily skin, frizzy hair and a host of skin infections. But there’s no beauty woe an essential oil can’t tackle.

Essential oils are potent natural ingredients obtained from trees and fruits and are used for their healing and rejuvenating properties. If you’re experiencing breakouts, skin infections or dry hair this monsoon, incorporating essential oils in your beauty routine will help deal with these problems. Below is a list of common monsoon beauty woes and ways to tackle them using essential oils.

Ylang-ylang oil for excessive oiliness

Oily skin tends to get oilier and appear dull during monsoon. Ylang-ylang essential oil is non-comedogenic in nature, meaning it won’t clog the pores or leave your skin greasy. It is effective in fighting acne, improving skin elasticity as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Apply a few drops of ylang-ylang essential oil mixed with your moisturiser or jojoba oil to keep excess oiliness in check.
