01. Acne

01.	Acne

Foods to avoid

  • Definitely cut out sugar and high glycemic foods (foods that raise insulin too fast). They worsen hormonal shifts and increase the stress hormones in the body.
  • Cut out dairy and whey protein as they also cause hormonal imbalance.

AM to PM skincare routine

Start by cleansing your skin in the morning. Apply some face serum and don’t forget to put on sunblock. In the night, use a cleanser, serum and moisturiser before going to bed.

Skincare tips for acne-prone skin

  • Include cleansers with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in your skincare routine.
  • Look for bentonite clay in your face lotions and also consider AHAs, zinc gluconate and retinol or retinaldehyde for mild acne.
  • Don’t overwash your face. Limit it to two to three times a day and no more than that as it can dry out your face which will increase oil production.
  • Avoid using hair styling pomades and waxes in your hair as it can also cause acne
  • For severe acne, contact a dermatologist.

02. Eczema

02.	Eczema

Foods to avoid

  • Eat foods with lots of healthy fats and omega 3 fatty acids in them.
  • Cook in coconut oil or ghee.
  • Avoid inflammatory foods like dairy and gluten.
  • Keep a track of what foods trigger you.

AM to PM skincare routine

Twice a day, use a strong eczema-treating body lotion on damp skin. Apply Vaseline or any good natural oil, like sesame oil or coconut oil on top of it.

Skincare tips for eczema

  • Look for creams with ceramides in them and omega 3 fatty acids
  • Use Vaseline petroleum jelly in abundance.
  • Avoid anything with foam. Instead, use cleansing oils to bathe or shower.
  • Bathe in lukewarm water for no more than five minutes

03. Large pores

03.	Large pores

Foods to avoid

  • Honestly, this concern is better treated by proper skin care treatments. But you can avoid foods like processed foods, dairy, gluten and sugar which worsen collagen degradation or triggers acne.

AM to PM skincare routine

Swear by cleansing twice a day with a face wash. Apply a clay-based moisturiser during the day and include retinol in your nighttime skincare routine.

Skincare tips for large pores

  • Don’t over scrub your skin.
  • Look for salicylic acid cleansers and clay-based lotions with retinol in it. This will boost collagen and tighten those pores.

04. Pigmentation

04.	Pigmentation

Foods to include

  • Add plenty of antioxidant-rich foods in your diet including amla, oranges and berries.
  • Include lots of colourful vegetables in your meals.
  • Drink lots of water.

AM to PM skincare routine

Use vitamin C cleanser in the morning and a cleanser with alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) at night. These are really important to include in your daily skincare routine. Also, use serums or creams or lotions with vitamin C in the morning and use a sunscreen.

At night, after cleansing, apply an anti-pigmentation cream on your face and follow it up with a moisturiser before hitting the sheets.

Skincare tips for pigmentation

  • For anti-pigmentation, use creams with kojic acid, alpha-Arbutin, retinol, liquorice extract, AHAs, azelaic acid in them and apply one to two times a day.
  • Wear mineral sunblock with SPF 30 every 4 hours.
  • To protect your skin from sun damage, take polypodium leucotomos supplements and for glowing skin, take supplements with glutathione and vitamin C, twice a day.

05. Premature ageing

05.	Premature ageing

Foods to avoid

  • Avoid sugar to reduce glycation and degradation of collagen.
  • Avoid any food that triggers inflammation.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Practice intermittent fasting.

AM to PM skincare routine

Use a gentle cleanser in the morning and evening. Use a Vitamin C and ferulic acid serum during the day and retinol in the night. Follow it up with hyaluronic acid plumping serum and peptide cream.

Skincare tips for premature ageing

  • Use non-foaming cleansers only.
  • Use vitamin C creams with or without ferulic acid for potent antioxidant and anti-ageing benefit.
  • Look for retinol, bakuchiol or AHAs in your nighttime skincare routine.
  • Peptide-based creams are also an anti-ageing must.
  • Line plumping hyaluronic acid and stem cell ingredients should also be a part in your anti-ageing skincare routine.
