You finally got that tattoo you always wanted but have you given after care a good thought? Getting a tattoo means having to pay special attention to your skin for at least two weeks after. Wondering how to go about it? Follow our tips listed below…
Once you’re done with the tattoo, make sure you ask your tattoo artist for advice on how to get the tattoo to heal faster. They might have some interesting advice to give. Ask them to write it down for you or give you a pamphlet with the rules.
Gently wash the tattoo
Your tattoo artist will ask you to leave your covering for about 5-6 hours. Once that’s over, carefully remove the covering and wash with lukewarm water and a mild body wash or soap.
Apply a thin layer of moisturiser
Applying a thin moisturiser will ensure that your skin doesn’t get itchy or dry in and around the tattoo area. We suggest going for something soothing like the Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe Body Lotion that helps keep your skin moisturised and cool, thanks to its aloe content. The best benefit? The fact that it disappears into your skin without making it one bit greasy!
Don’t expose it to the sun
Even after your tattoo heals, make sure you keep it away from direct sunlight as the sun can easily fade your tattoo. Even if you do step out make sure you apply sunscreen on your tattoo. We suggest using the Lakmé Sun Expert UV Lotion SPF 50 PA+++. This shields your skin against 97% UVB rays that can cause sunburns while the PA+++ saves your skin from UVA rays.
Don’t scratch
As your tattoo starts to heal, it might cause a bit of itching. Even if you’re tempted, make sure you don’t scratch the tattoo as you can end up ruining the ink and fading your tattoo. Remember that this itchy feeling will last only a few weeks so try to control yourself as much as possible.

I have this superpower of buying everything and anything related to cats because I strongly believe that cats are greater than human beings. Amidst all of these thoughts, I take time out to write about food, fitness and beauty - something that makes my job so much fun!
