Add Blooms To Your Wardrobe

ADD BLOOMS TO YOUR WARDROBE
Your summer wardrobe is simply incomplete without florals. And as we've always said, there's more than one way to wear a trend! We pick some of your favourite floral looks to up your style quotient.

Embellished and fabulous

Narendra Kumar’s floral rendition at the Lakmé Fashion Week, 2014 left us spellbound. Trust the designer to spin the blooms in a surprisingly fresh way. We love the blocks of oriental florals on the textured, embellished dress. It’s a never-done-before treatment with plush blooms, and we’d wear it with basic court shoes in black.

A floral flare

Spin your flowers in the most delicate way this summer. This Shruti Sancheti creation has French accents fused with Indian silhouettes. We are waiting to try out this high-slit vest over an anarkali bodice. A special shout out here to the beautifully feminine colours that are a must-have in your spring closet!

Pecked appliques

If a floral fantasy could translate to clothes, this Shehla Khan lehenga would be it. Pastel blue, floral appliques in soft pinks and a sheer mesh skirt—what’s not to love about this outfit? Work it in ethnic tones by styling it with kundan or jadao earrings, or keep it fusion-chic by simply losing the dupatta.

Atta, boy!

Surprise, surprise! Yep, the men are sporting it, too! Keeping it blooming, but not in-your-face is this cute-boy look by Kunal Anil Tanna. Inspired by cruise wear, the pairing of a tuxedo jacket with those shorts is a sure winner. Keeps it fun, yet sharp.

Tiny motifs work big wonders

Does Ritu Kumar ever go wrong? We don’t think so. This simple sari specked with tiny gold floral motifs is a must-have all year round. We never shy away from bling and if you want to wear yours in an understated way, you want this sari, now.

The bigger, the better

Go oversized! Pick your favourite top in a large floral print and combine it with contrasting black leather leggings to bring in a tough grunge vibe. It also helps break the look from making you appear like a floral bouquet. Did we mention those bold red suede heels just won all our style points? Ten on ten!

The sundress just became more fun

Much like the designer’s vibe herself, this orange cut out sundress by Surily Goel hits all the right notes in the ‘fun’ department. What makes it better is that sheer trim at the hem and that gorgeous mirror work at the waist and shoulders. We’d totally wear this from day to night.

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
