AM to PM skincare routine: For oily skin

Getting a skincare routine in place for oily skin can be quite a task. Because let’s face it; problems that come with oily skin are far too many. Use the wrong product and you will end up with clogged pores or breakouts.

When you have oily skin, you are not just dealing with excessive oil, but many underlying problems. The good news is having an AM to PM skincare routine in place will tackle most of them. If you don’t have your daily skincare routine sorted yet, here’s what a skincare routine for oily skin should look like.

AM skincare routine

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 1: Cleanse

The first step of any skincare routine is cleansing, it takes away all the dirt and oil that has settled on your face during the night. Use a gentle skin type-specific face wash such as the Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash to remove excess oil as well as prevent acne and pimples.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 2: Tone

Look for a water-based alcohol-free toner to balance your skin. Alcohol-based toners will dry out your skin and increase sebum production. The Lakme Absolute Pore Fix Toner is a great option for oily skin as it unclogs and tightens pores, revealing smooth and clean skin.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 3: Moisturise

A lightweight gel-based moisturiser will hydrate your skin and keep it grease-free all day long. Look for ingredients like vitamin E and hyaluronic acid to get the most out of your moisturiser. The Pond’s Super Light Gel Oil Free Moisturiser contains the goodness of both these ingredients, plus glycerine to keep your skin fresh and hydrated all day.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 4: Sunscreen

No matter what you do, NEVER skip sunscreen. None of your skincare products will work if your skin is not protected by a layer of sunscreen. Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before stepping out and reapply every two to three hours. We suggest the Pond’s Sun Protect Non-Oily Sunscreen SPF 50 to prevent sun damage.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 1: Remove makeup

Alcohol-free micellar cleansing water is ideal to get rid of all the makeup and dirt sitting on your face at the end of the day. The Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water has a gentle cleansing formula that removes stubborn makeup easily without irritating the skin.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 2: Cleanse

Use the same cleanser you used in your AM skincare routine to wash off all the dirt, oil, grime and bacteria from your face. Massage in gentle circular motions concentrating on the t-zone for a few minutes and then wash off.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 3: Tone

To restore your skin’s natural pH balance it is essential to apply a toner. Use the Lakme Absolute Pore Fix Toner again to remove excess oil as well as tighten your pores.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 4: Eye cream

Adding an under-eye cream in your daily skincare routine is the ideal thing to do. It will work overnight to address all concerns related to your eye area. We suggest the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Radiance Night Revival Eye Crème which brightens the under-eye area and reduces dark circles.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 5: Night cream/serum

No matter what your age or skin type, add a night cream or serum to your skincare routine right away if you haven’t yet. The Lakme Absolute Ideal Tone Refinishing Night Concentrate increases the skin’s natural defence, and over time, gives you an even-looking skin tone.

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Step 6: Acne spot treatment

Oily skin is prone to acne and occasional breakouts. We suggest including a spot treatment in your nighttime skincare routine when you notice one. This can either be something that your dermatologist recommended or using diluted tea tree oil on the affected area.

Apart from this daily routine, it is also important to exfoliate and apply a mask on your skin at least twice a week to get rid of deep-set dirt and dead skin cells.
