Remember life before lockdown, when you wore your favourite shirt and put on your best makeup to look presentable before an important meeting? Now that these meetings take place in your living room on online platforms like Zoom and Teams, you can’t get yourself to dress up because you’ve gotten pretty comfortable spending all the time in your loungewear. However, while no one’s asking you to do a full face of makeup, it’s rude to appear in a messy bun and tired eyes for an important meeting. Not to mention, super unprofessional too. So, here are 5 makeup tips that will help you look your best without putting in a lot of efforts:
- Stick with the basics
- Keep your base light
- Opt for lighter shades
- Apply tinted lip balms
- Face the natural light
Stick with the basics
Just because you have a lot of time to spare before the meeting and a ton of makeup products you haven’t used in a long time, does not mean you apply a sparkly eyeshadow or a bright blush for that meeting. Stick with the basics. Fill in your brows, apply mascara, swipe on neutral lip colour and a little bit of highlighter and you’ll look fresh as a daisy.
Keep your base light
Instead of going for a full coverage foundation, choose something lightweight like a tinted moisturiser or CC cream such as the Lakme Complexion Care Face CC Cream to get an even complexion. Apply a brightening concealer such as the Lakme Absolute White Intense Liquid Concealer SPF 25 to conceal and brighten your under eyes and appear wide awake.
Opt for lighter shades
Usually, you would prefer wearing black eyeliner, but the same can appear too dark on camera. Switch it with a grey or brown shade like the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal - Classic Brown for a softer look. Same goes for eyeshadow and lip shades; opt for lighter shades than what you would normally wear.
Apply tinted lip balms
Your favourite matte lipstick will appear too dry on camera and lip gloss may appear too shiny. Again, avoid dark lip shades even if they’re your all-time favourite. It’s best to stick to a tinted lip balm such as the Vaseline Lip Therapy Color & Care Chapstick – Strawberry for a soft, natural-looking tint.
Face the natural light
Ok, we know this one is not really a makeup tip, but it’s an important tip nonetheless. Why? Because lighting is everything when it comes to looking good on camera. If you have a place where natural light enters your house, place your laptop or phone in front of it during virtual meetings and your face will instantly appear brighter.
