Last evening, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli took to Instagram to post their wedding pictures that, basically, broke the internet. They proved their marriage rumour to be true, which we all were hoping for anyway! From acting in the shampoo advert to getting married in Italy, these two have come a long way. Let’s have a look at some of the wedding details…
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kholi looked all kinds of adorbs replicating a wedding in their recent ‘Manyavar’ commercial. It got us all thinking how magical would it be if they got married IRL. Looks like this was a part of their big plan!
Reports of Virat and Anushka taking breaks from their work schedules at the same time began surfacing, something that got all the fans and the press thinking. They set tongues wagging when both of them, along with their families (and the Punditji as well) left Mumbai and Delhi on the same day. While websites started giving us all the deets about their upcoming nuptials, it still wasn’t confirmed until the last moment, ’coz a rumour is always a rumour until confirmed, right?
The wedding day
On December 11, 2017, the newly-weds made things official on social media and we all cried tears of happiness. One of the highest paid athletes of India and one of the top actors of India were finally hitched!
From whatever we saw, the wedding looked nothing less than a fairytale with it’s pretty as picture backdrops and all things pastel.
The ceremony took place at the Borgo Finocchieto property in Tuscany that occupies 2 hectares of the Italian countryside.
The wedding was planned and executed by ‘Shaadi Squad’, a boutique wedding planning company from Mumbai. (And what a splendid job they did with the décor!)
The photos that broke the internet and made everyone go “Awww” were shot by the internationally renowned wedding photographer Joseph Radhik and his talented team. We can’t stop replaying this video of Anushka’s dreamy entrance!
From the engagement to the mehendi and even the main wedding, Virat and Anushka chose to be clad in Sabyasachi. Their outfits were so gorgeous that post these pictures, the thought of getting married just to wear a Sabya lehenga has probably crossed your mind at least once.
For her engagement, Anushka wore a burgundy velvet sari which was hand-embroidered to perfection using miniature pearls.
For jewellery, she chose an uncut diamond and pearl choker with studs from Sabyasachi.
No matter how irritated Anushka gets with the ‘bubbly’ tag, we can’t deny the fact that she is fun, quirky and chirpy! But that’s exactly what she looked like at her mehendi, all dressed up in a riot of bright colours. Her custom graphic lehenga in bright fuchsia and orange complimented her hand-printed turquoise choli perfectly. Virat looked dapper in a khadi kurta and chudidaar topped with a Nehru jacket.
We love the fact that both Virat and Anushka chose muted pastel colours for the wedding as opposed to the conventional reds and golds. Their outfits seamlessly complemented the stunning décor that was full of lilac, pale pink and white flowers, gorgeous fairy lights and vintage lamps.
Anushka chose a pale pink lehenga embellished with delicate pearls, bead work and Renaissance embroidery.
She wore stunning Tuscan hydrangeas in her hair and kept her makeup simple and light! Top makeup artist Puneet B Saini did a fab job with Anushka’s makeup.
Virat wore a raw silk sherwani with hand embroidery in a Banarasi pattern.
Virushka are now all set to make up for the private wedding in Tuscany, Italy by hosting a lavish reception in New Delhi on the 21st of December and Bombay after that.
This definitely was the wedding of the year; a beautiful fairytale and a treat to the eyes. We’re extremely happy for this power couple and wish them all the happiness in the world. We love you, Virushka! You indeed made us restore our faith in true love.
