Be Beautiful Digital Cover | December 2019

A young entrepreneur, fashion influencer and fitness freak hailing from a family of beauty mavens... those are some credentials for a 20-something, don’t you think? Introducing Juhi Godambe, Be Beautiful’s first ever digital cover star! She's hip, she's chic and she's one of Instagram's favourite bloggers. Who better to represent the Insta-glam bride?

Dressed in chic casual attire--ripped white denims and a beige vest--and hair cascading over her shoulders, Juhi is a total mood as she arrives at the BB studio, all pumped up and raring to go! Our cover girl is set to depict the millennial bride, and magic is about to unfold...

“I’m always experimenting with trends for my job,
so I’m definitely going the traditional route for my wedding.”

Sitting in the makeup chair, Juhi spills the tea on how she envisions her own wedding. One word: Traditional! Shocker, right? But she has her reasons. Always experimenting with new trends, thanks to her job, the jet-setting Instagrammer confesses that she wants to keep it *surprise, surprise* subtle for her wedding. “I know for sure that I want to go the traditional route. I’ll probably play around with pop colours for other functions leading up to the wedding, but for my D-day, I’d want to stick to a bright red lip or heavy kohl”, she explains. “With the changing times, I think more brides are now sticking to the less-is-more trend like no-makeup makeup, fresh skin, and I’d love that too.”

And that’s the millennial bride for you. She is well-aware of the trends but may or may not adhere to them ‘cause she’s not afraid to be who she is. She knows what’s in, what’s outdated, what looks great on her and what could bring her look down. “We have Instagram to thank for that,” she quips. “It’s where I get all my inspo from too. I think Instagram is the one-stop solution for everything today, bridal or otherwise.”

When it comes to her hair, Juhi’s pretty clear about not wanting to wear her hair down. “That’s a complete no-no for me. I’m more of a traditional person, so I’d prefer a bun-style and adorn it with some fresh flowers maybe.” Giving us a little history lesson, she reveals her love for the retro hairstyles of the 50s and 60s, where women were a lot more creative with their looks; and throws in some fun facts about bridal makeup over the years.

“My father has never touched my face till now. But, yes, he will be doing my makeup on my wedding.
It’s going to be a very emotional moment. I know that we’ll both be crying, but the makeup will remain intact.”

We’re not surprised by Juhi’s beauty dope though. Her parents, have, after all, been part of the Indian bridal beauty industry for over 35 years. Bharat and Dorris Godambe have worked with Bollywood royalty and decked up a zillion brides; they’re obviously going to do Juhi’s makeup for her wedding, no? “So fun fact: My father has never touched my face till now. But, yes, he will be doing my makeup on my wedding. It’s going to be a very emotional moment. I know that we’ll both be crying, but the makeup will remain intact. I’m really looking forward to that day,” says Juhi.

So when’s it going to be? “Well, I always have a diamond ring on my ring finger, so people think I am engaged. (Yes, we did too.) But I’m not. The ring has been gifted to me by my mother. Not getting married just yet; but it’s definitely something Siddharth and I have discussed. In fact, I keep sending him cute proposal videos I see on Instagram.” (laughs) No pressure, Siddharth. “But it’s the thought that matters, so you can do anything,” says Juhi signing off and leaving us going ‘awww!’
