Our January cover star is roaring at 30! She is not just an ace stage performer, but also a successful director and producer. Her first stint with acting was at the age of 5, and since then, she’s been unstoppable.
Her breakthrough role in the Shahrukh Khan starrer Fan got her recognition on the silver screen, but it is only after the success of Mirzapur that she became one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry. She is none other than the gorgeous, supremely talented dimpled beauty, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and she’s on the Be Beautiful cover in January 2020, taking us Back to Basics.
Shriya credits her glowing skin to her genes. “I’m blessed because my parents have great skin. My grandmother actually has fantastic skin,” she admits. So, who better to be the face of The Skin Edit, eh?
Looking at Shriya, you could never tell she was jet-lagged AF! Dressed in an uber casual outfit sans any makeup, Shriya still manages to look pretty, sitting in that makeup chair. “If I eat well, sleep well and exercise well, then my face is automatically glowing. And, and… travelling! Travelling makes me so happy, I’ve just returned from Berlin; that’s probably why my skin looks like this,” Shriya quips.
She knows the importance of appearance in the entertainment industry, but she also knows what makes her beautiful. “Beauty is all about how I’m feeling. On days when I’m confident, happy and stress-free, I automatically feel beautiful, even if I am in my pyjamas. And then there are days when I’m wearing the most glamorous dress, but if I’m not feeling good from within, I’m definitely not feeling beautiful.”
Of course, that’s not all. Shriya’s skincare habits are a reminder that beauty comes from following a great routine too. “The most important part of any skincare or makeup routine is how you prep your skin and how you take off all your makeup before bed. If you’re going to be lazy about removing your makeup, then you’re never going to have good skin. I make sure I moisturise my skin really well and use a lot of sunscreen too.”
Other than that, she’s a no-frills kinda girl and likes to keep a beauty routine simple. “I am obsessed with hand cream; I’m constantly applying it. I always keep a lip balm with me and a tint for my cheeks, lips and eyes,” she reveals.
But c’mon, an actress has to look a certain way, right? So what about the strict diets and hardcore workouts? Not for this girl! While she believes in staying fit, the foodie in her won’t let her give up on her favourite foods. “I do a mix of Pilates, I play badminton, I love to swim and dance, so I do a bunch of different things to stay fit. But, at the same time, I also love my food. In fact, I cannot function without food,” says Shriya as she bites into her lunch. But don’t be deceived by that salad in her hand, Shriya loves the occasional burger. “Or two,” she quips. “But everything in moderation,” she quickly adds.
While her great skin allows her the liberty of the one-odd binge, she’s determined to change some things in 2020. “Drink lots (and lots) of water and perfect my makeup skills… that’s on the agenda,” she reveals. Did you just mentally add those to your New Year resolutions too? We know we did.
