This year is even more special as Lakme Fashion Week celebrates twenty five years of its initiation. From AK-OK by Anamika Khanna's opening night show, to Saaksha and Kinni's maximalist sunstopper exhibit with minimalist beauty looks, each fashion show served looks better than the other. While you were busy spotting runway trends of the season and circling your favourite fashion and beauty moments, we went backstage to amass expert beauty secrets that you may have restricted access to. Well, not anymore. Dismantling show stopping beauty looks, we asked experts their pro makeup, hair and beauty tips to bring to fashion girls like you and me.

Skin prep, says Gayetri Chakravarthy, National Creative Director for Makeup at Lakme Salon . "This is like a really important step. I'd say prep with the right moisturiser, primer and then set your base with a setting spray like Lakme's VitC Superglow Skin Perfecting Makeup Fixer."

In a country that sees more hot and humid days than cooler ones, flyaways and frizzy hair are extremely hard to get rid of. Backstage hairstylist at the Lakme Fashion Week Paula shares, "these days we have fly away sticks too but a good old tip is using a hair spray or a gloss serum like the one by Tresemme Gloss Ultimate Hair Serum . Ombre lips are making a comeback. Gayetri shares, "it really accentuates the lip shades by making them look fuller and much more glamorous. You can ace this trend by mixing and matching multiple shades and creating everyday as well as fashion looks." To get that 'slicked back hair' look, Paula gives away a really simple trick. "Just mix water and hair spray for it. Finish with a nice gloss serum." While styling the ultra short bob, another spring hair trend and frankly a practical style for this heat, is equally easy to pull off for every day. "Apply a good heat protector on your hair and blast dry. Once dried, apply a serum. So the sequence is a shampoo, conditioner, hair protectant and serum", explains Siddharth.

"One would be using a lip plumper since the models are either constantly moving from one show to another or their skin is simply tired from excessive makeup application", discloses Gayetri. Glowing skin has a lot to do with what's beneath. However, apart from hydration, in terms of makeup you must focus on hydrating formulations. "I'm a fan of hydrating products – think moisturisers with hyaluronic acid, a hydrating setting spray, a hydrating serum", shares Gayetri.
