While we will perpetually remain loyal to Game of Thrones, the long wait in between seasons often has us seeking newer sources of entertainment. Don’t blame us—it’s reason why Netflix has a new series to offer each month. We picked the five new TV shows of 2017 that we liked best and are looking forward to. Check ’em out…

Riverdale

Riverdale

With a portfolio boasting some of the most successful shows on television—One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries—you know you’re going to like what’s coming next. Especially the ones with a dark and twisted version, Riverdale is where you’ll see a darker side to the freckled fella, Archie Andrews, one that you might learn to appreciate along the way.

Big Little Lies

Big Little Lies

What’s the first thing to come to mind when you hear Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley coming together for an HBO miniseries? Drama. Well, that’s exactly what it is, as we watch these three and a few other mothers compete in the race for power and affluence to an extent where one commits a sin. The catch here, however, is that it has its own blend of dark humour--absolutely worth the watch.

13 Reasons Why

13 Reasons Why

Not one for those looking for a happy ending—because this one has a real one. Why would a dead girl lie? 13 Reasons Why touches on all the real issues that our generation faces but fails to communicate. Depression. Bullying. Suicide. Everything perceived to be unspeakable, but actually isn’t. The takeaway is that you’re never alone. All you have to do is muster the courage and reach out.

Famous In Love

Famous In Love

Another teenage drama centered around a teen making it big in Hollywood and unravelling the secrets and the lies that hide on the other side. While it may not be the most original concept, it’s still got Bella Thorne and she may as well be the next Serena Van Der Woodsen with hot boys fawning over her, which is something that never really goes out of style—not for teens anyway.
