Chances are you’re reading this at 4 PM—because that’s when life suddenly starts to feel slow and boring. You’re just standing there, by the coffee machine getting your second cup of coffee, probably third, but you don’t even care, because you’re dreading going back to work. You’d rather aimlessly scroll through your feed and entertain yourself with the most random memes (that aren’t even all that funny) and stall some more than go back to work…
But, you can’t do that, can you? So shake it off! Gulp down that coffee and read through these steps to help you get rid of that slow daze you’re swirling into—because there’s too much to do with too little time!
- Get some air
- Watch something funny

- Make a phone call
- Crank up the music
- Avoid those sugars
Get some air

The confined energy indoors is probably what’s getting to you, so get out and get some air. Take a friend along, if that makes you feel better, and catch up on everything there is to life other than work—even if it means discussing weird conversations with your other best friends. And keep walking, it helps!
Watch something funny

If stepping outside the office sounds time consuming, then watch funny animal/baby videos instead. You’ll soon realize all you needed was a hearty chuckle at that panda falling off the tree to get your momentum back. It’s true—how do you think those videos hit so many views?
Declutter your desk

You’ve probably scattered your stationery and have phone call ramblings on post-its of all colours lying on your desk. Well, time to declutter! This, and clearing out your inbox and checking off finished tasks, will automatically amp up your energy because these are visible accomplishments, or visual treats!
Make a phone call

To your best friend, S.O. or even dear mom to ask what she’s been up to or to thank her for lunch (without going overboard else there will be extra chapatis for you at home for dinner). Talking, and venting, are the best ways to bust some stress—but make sure you’re doing it while moving around. Don’t be sitting too long!
Crank up the music

Have a favourite track(s)? Crank up the volume! Listen to it on loop and groove in your chair—no one’s judging nor do you care. Zone out, so all you know is the task at hand and feel that energy surge up! He meant it when he said music was the safe kind of high—Jimi Hendrix.
Avoid those sugars

You knew having a heavy lunch is a bad idea—so is consuming sugars. In your defense, that sugar rush is all you need to get things moving faster, but ever wondered what happens when that sugar high starts to drop low? Say goodbye to the energy boost and say hello to the mid-afternoon slump!
