DIY Home remedies for dry and frizzy hair

If you are a curly haired girl or have dry, frizzy hair, then we are sure you have spent a lot of time looking up home remedies for taming your frizz. We give you simple DIY remedies that you can easily whip up at home to nourish and smoothen your hair.

Frizzy hair is caused when the hair cuticle does not get enough hydration. Frizzy hair is a cry for help from your hair. You need to eat right and drink enough water. Additionally you could also give you some extra loving with the masks we have listed here.

You need:

Banana honey and coconut oil hair mask

1 egg

2 tbsp. almond oil

Method:

Combine the above ingredients to form a smooth mixture. Section your hair and apply it on the scalp and through the lengths of your hair. Leave it for 30-40 minutes and rinse with room temperature water. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner, preferably one without sulphates.

How often: once a week

Why this works: This is an excellent remedy for frizzy hair as the egg is high in protein and helps repair the hair shaft. Almond oil is a natural hair conditioner and helps soften the hair.

 

Avocado and yoghurt hair mask

You need:

1 ripe avocado, de-seeded and mashed

2 tbsp. yoghurt

Method:

Combine the above two ingredients and make a smooth paste. Apply the mixture on your hair and allow it to sit for 30-40 minutes. Rinse with room-temperature water and follow with a mild sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner.

How often: once or twice a week

Why this works: This is a cost-effective yet deeply hydrating hair mask. Avocado is rich in vitamins B and C which nourish hair and repair the damage. The yoghurt cleans the scalp and deep conditions it.

2 tsp. honey

2 tsp. coconut oil

Method:

Combine all the above ingredients until they forma a smooth paste. Apply this on your hair and leave it on for 30-40 minutes. Rinse it off with room-temperature water and follow it up with a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner.

How often: Once a week

Why this works: Honey is a humectant, which means it will draw moisture into your hair. Bananas are rich in potassium and other minerals which makes it a great conditioning agent.
