Combing wet hair – a big NO!
Wet hair is extremely weak, fragile, prone to breakage and especially susceptible to damage. Water tends to weaken the bond within strands of your hair and reduces the usual hair strength by 1/3. The simple act of brushing can lead to dire consequences in this weakened state. Hence, we strongly recommend for you to stop brushing your hair right after you have washed it, but if you absolutely must, you can use a wide toothed comb as this tugs lesser at the hair and minimises damage.
Chop ‘em off regularly
Your stylist has been pushing you to do this for as long as you have been visiting the salon. We know it breaks your heart each time you have to cut the length of your crowning glory, but trimming your hair every 6 to 8 weeks is the only way to get rid of those dead and split ends. Cut about 1/4th an inch of your hair to help them grow healthier and stronger.
Cold water rinse
Do you love the thought of hot water running down your head while you wash your hair? Unfortunately, it does not go down too well with your hair. Hot water tends to strip your scalp of its natural oils and this leads to hair looking dull, dry and frizzy. To add some life to limp hair, here is a quick hack for those of you who hate the thought of a cold water shower - after you have used hair conditioner, rinse it off with cold water as it is good for both strength and shine.
Oil your hair regularly
You have probably been turning a deaf ear each time your mother offers this blanket solution to all hair problems. But it’s time you reach for that bottle of oil on your shelf and indulge your hair in a good oil massage regularly. This simple addition to your routine nourishes your scalp and easily helps in cleaning the scalp of dirt and grime.
