‘Tis the season to be partying like there’s no tomorrow. We wait all year for this time to try out the hottest makeup trends, show off fun hairstyles and basically put our best face forward. Talking about fun and fab party hairstyles, we have noticed some safety pin hairstyles (yeah, you read that right) doing the rounds in the beauty circuit. From Taapsee Pannu to Hollywood A-listers like Yara Shahidi, a number of celebrities have sported the safety pin hair art and we approve!

If you fancy an edgy and hip hairstyle for a big night like New Year’s Eve, we have got you just the perfect hairstyle inspiration. Safety pins were one of the hottest hair accessories this season and the quirky hairstyles using these fun elements totally fit the bill for your New Year’s look. Here are three hairstyles using safety pins you can copy this party season.

Braided hairdo

Think buns and braids are too boring for a party? We copy that. Try this braided hairdo instead with safety pins pierced into the braids. It may seem complicated, but is actually pretty easy. Section your hair in four equal parts. Braid the front two sections all the way to the nape of your neck and secure with a clear hair tie.

Spray hairspray on your hairbrush and brush back the side sections. Pull all your hair into a messy bun. Now comes the fun part. Insert pins through the braided sections till the bun leaving equal gaps. Voila! A party-ready hairstyle that’s oh-so quirky.

Top knot

Jazz up your top knot by accessorising it with a bunch of safety pins. Simply make a high top knot and stack four or five pins of similar size in a line at the back, as seen on Ananya Panday in this look. This is a great way to make your regular top knot glamourous and party-ready in a snap. Make sure you spritz some hairspray so the pins don’t slide down and stay put throughout the party.

Micro braids

A badass hairstyle like this is sure to turn heads at the party. Ditch bobby pins and pop in some safety pins to make your micro braids edgy and eccentric. To get this look, divide your hair in three to four sections and Dutch braid each section close to the hairline. Next, place safety pins on the front couple of braids for that funky and show-stopping look! And you are all set to be everyone’s hairstyle crush at the party.
