Making even a slight change in my hair care routine feels scary, especially since I’ve been using the same product for years. For starters, the current routine is getting the job done, hair feels okay if not great and change is something I’ve always feared.
However, once I made the shift, I wished I had tried it sooner. Turns out, switching to a vegan and cruelty-free shampoo is not only better for the environment but also for my tresses. I replaced my shampoo and conditioner with the Love Beauty & Planet Argan Oil And Lavender Aroma Smooth And Serene Shampoo + Conditioner and here’s how it transformed my hair.
My hair type

I have naturally healthy and thick hair. The credit for which goes to my mom, who made sure to apply a lot of coconut oil to my tresses all throughout my childhood. Long and thick hair may look great, but taking care of it can be quite daunting. Finding the right shampoo was a real task. Most shampoos made my hair dry, frizzy and gave it unnecessary volume that was difficult to manage. After a lot of trial and error, I finally settled for one that did a decent job of not making my hair frizzy and I would’ve continued using it for the rest of my life if I hadn’t come across this vegan and cruelty-free shampoo.
Why I made the switch?

Being a beauty writer comes with its own sets of perks. We learn about various ingredients on the job and apply the knowledge while choosing products for ourselves. While I was sold on the idea of using a product that does not contain silicones and parabens and has only naturally sourced ingredients, I was also reluctant about the results. But when I saw argan oil listed as one of the ingredients, I knew right then that I had to take the Love Beauty & Planet Argan Oil And Lavender Aroma Smooth And Serene Shampoo + Conditioner home.
The transformation
I would be lying if I said my hair looked great after the first wash itself. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned on the job while talking to experts, it’s that both, hair care and skincare products, take at least 15 days to show results. Also, I was loving the subtle smell of lavender from my hair, so I continued using it. I noticed that after every wash my hair looked softer and silkier. After the 4th or 5th wash, my hair was almost frizz-free, this was something that none of my previous shampoos were able to do.
The result

Shampoos made using naturally sourced ingredients are free from harsh chemicals and don’t lather up as much, but don’t worry, it will still thoroughly cleanse your hair and scalp leaving it squeaky clean. After a few washes, your scalp will adjust, like mine did and you will find that your scalp does not have to work overtime to combat the dryness. The process is slow, but when the transformation does happen, you will love your hair. Plus, it gives you the chance to make a small contribution towards a better environment.
