From Swara Bhaskar and Chitrangda Singh to Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, celebrity makeup artist and hairstylist Anu Kaushik has created some stunning, swoon-worthy beauty looks for the most gorgeous divas of B-town. She loves experimenting with a coloured waterline and dramatic smokey eyes as much as she loves the minimalistic approach to bridal makeup.
We chatted up the makeup maven and got all that bridal beauty dope you wanted. Yes, from the makeup trends that bridesmaids should experiment with this season to whether you should choose HD over airbrush makeup, Anu talked all things bridal with BeBeautiful. If you’re a bride to-be, you don’t want to miss this!

BB: Tell us about one of your favourite bridal looks for the brides to-be.
AK: I did a destination wedding in Antalya and it was my kind of minimalistic. Medha Ahluwalia was my bride for a sundowner wedding. For the base, I used a luminous peachy cream shade, followed by a flush of pink on her cheeks. For the eyes, I used a nude gold wash of colour all over her lids, thin smudged eyeliner on her bottom lash line with generous coats of mascara to define her eye makeup. I finished off her look with a soft pink lip colour. She looked ethereal!
BB: What are some makeup trends every bridesmaid should try this wedding season?
AK: Bridesmaids should opt for fun, sassy looks. Pop colours on the eyes such as neon eyeliner or a wash of aqua blue or green on the lids can really do the trick in amping up your eye makeup game. Even just a touch of glitter liner or shimmer on the inner corners can add drama to your look without looking OTT. Instead of the regular black kajal, try coloured eye pencils that complement your outfit.

BB: Makeup trends you wish brides would leave behind.
AK: From your outfit to your jewellery, everything is oh-so blingy. So, it would be better for brides to avoid glitter makeup. Instead, keep it soft and matte with a smokey look and glowy, dewy skin. Another thing that brides to-be should definitely leave behind is overpowering fake lashes. Instead, use individual or half lashes just around the corners of your eyes.
BB: What is your advice for brides as far as their beauty routine is concerned?
AK: I always give my brides a five-step ritual to follow:
- Drink at least two litres of water a day to flush out toxins.
- Get eight hours of beauty sleep.
- A half hour of physical activity is necessary to maintain your energy levels.
- Protect your skin with sunscreen.
- Avoid junk food.

BB: What is the difference between HD and airbrush makeup? What is ideal for brides?
AK: HD Makeup is of fine quality and is done manually. It has the power to hide skin imperfections such as blemishes, acne scars and uneven tone and gives a naturally perfect look especially on camera.
Airbrush makeup is done using an airbrush gun that is filled with makeup liquid. The liquid is then sprayed evenly on the face or body. Airbrush allows your skin to hold multiple layers of makeup without it feeling too heavy. It is also more long-lasting than HD makeup. So, I think brides should opt for airbrush makeup for their wedding.
BB: What are the must-do grooming treatments before your D-day?
AK: I always suggest a hydra facial to my brides. It hydrates and increases the glow on the face. Also getting gel nails is a great idea to avoid chipped and broken nails on your big day.
