Teen makeup doesn't always have to be all cutesy and heavy on the pink and glittery elements. Especially now, when women of all ages are questioning and breaking outdated makeup rules and norms. So why should teenagers be devoid of the fun? And it isn’t just us watching out for our teen peers, some of the world's biggest teen stars share the sentiment, one of whom is already on her way to make big waves in the beauty community — Millie Bobby Brown.
The 16-year old Stranger Things star is already the fashion ‘IT’ girl for Gen Z and her makeup game is always on-point. We have compiled a couple of her best beauty looks for you to take inspiration from and start your own liberating makeup journey!
- 01. Pick pigment over sheer
- 02. Take on the trends
- 03. Sharpen your features
- 04. Don’t get scared of the “grown-up” trends
- 05. Mix matte and gloss
01. Pick pigment over sheer

A common makeup look for teenagers is typically made up of low coverage foundation and a lot of sheer products. While we do believe our close to flawless teen skin doesn't need all those cakey layers (acne can be dealt with some dabs of concealer), the sheer staples can be switched for pigmented ones. Vibrant eyeshadows, bright pouts and bold blushes are a good place to start.
02. Take on the trends

Taking on outrageous makeup tends to be a challenge and watching the results turn out to be absolutely fabulous is a true delight. Millie’s smeared blush on the temples is an editorial fav right now, but can be equally cool for a trip to the mall. Just don’t be trying out clothes that day!
03. Sharpen your features

Use makeup to accentuate your features instead of blurring them out. This can be a good way to turn up the drama for special events when a little refinement to your beauty look can bring out the best in your ensemble as well.
04. Don’t get scared of the “grown-up” trends

Makeup trends like a smoky eye or crimson lined lips can feel overwhelming, but there are ways to work with it. For instance, take a cue from one of Millie’s looks and soften stark smokey eyes by adding some glittery gold shadows. There is always a way to update these trends to suit your comfort level.
05. Mix matte and gloss

Glossy makeup is exciting! And what better time to rock glossy makeup than in your teenage years. Add hints of gloss to your matte look to keep things glamorous yet youthful.
