Makeup is no more a luxury investment. You spend thousands of rupees if not more every month to fulfill all your makeup desires. But what if we told you, you could reuse or up cycle your favourite lipstick and eye shadow to create a completely new product? Allow us to show you a few easy and cost effective ways to recycle some of your makeup products.

P.S: This doesn’t mean you should continue using old and expired makeup products. Somethings need to go straight to the bin.
Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow

Yes! You must refrain from using any expired eye cosmetics on your lids but who said they can’t make for super cool nail paints? Take an old eyeshadow and break the pigment with the back of a small makeup brush. Mix the powder in a bottle of clear nail polish or a light nail paint color and voila you just made yourself a brand new nail paint!

Face Oils

Face Oils

Once expired, face oils are not to be used on the face as they can cause rashes and break outs. Grab the bottle of your face oil, add some sugar and use it as a body scrub.

Old Lipstick

Old Lipstick

The most tragic moment is when you realise that your favourite lipstick has broken or there is too little left to use. Worry not! Scoop out the leftover product and heat it over a gentle candle flame in a spoon. Mix the liquid with some Vaseline and there you have a brand new tinted lip balm.

P.S: The heat helps kill bacteria thus extending the life of the lip colour.

Expired Mascara

Expired Mascara

Think before you get rid of that old mascara. Wash the spoolie with some mild soap and warm water. Use it as a brow brush to tame your unruly brow hair or to de-clump the mascara on your lashes.

Skin Toners

Skin Toners

Very often toners contain alcohol that can be used to clean glasses and mirrors even after expiry. Just spray some toner on a cloth and wipe the dust away from any glass surface.
