- Mistake No. 5: Wearing waterproof mascara all the time
Mistake No. 1: Using eyelash curler after mascara
This is the worst thing to do to your lashes. Never use your eyelash curler after wearing your mascara. This can damage the eyelash cuticles and lead to lash breakage. The correct way of using your lash curler is before applying mascara and not too close to the lash rim.
Mistake No. 2: Not removing mascara before bed
You don’t just have to get rid of foundation and lipstick at the end of the day. Removing your mascara properly before hitting the bed is equally important. Sleeping with mascara on can cause severe damage to your eyes. If mascara gets into your eyes while sleeping, it can lead to significant skin irritation. That’s not all! Leftover mascara can result in clogging of the tiny hair follicles and oil glands on your eyelids.
Mistake No. 3: Wearing expired mascara
Did you know? Amongst all other beauty products, your mascara has the shortest shelf life. If you don’t remember opening a new tube of mascara in a long, long time, then it’s best you say goodbye to your current tube ASAP! You need to ideally keep changing your mascara every 2-3 months to avoid the risk of eye infection. If you pass the two-to-three-month mark, you're just coating your eyelashes in more and more bacteria.
Mistake No. 4: Rubbing your eyes
There are more disadvantages of rubbing your eyes than you can imagine. If you’re rubbing your eyes first thing when you wake up in the morning, then you’re doing a disservice not just to your eyes but also, your eyelashes. Rubbing eyes vigorously can pull your lashes out, thereby leading to scantier eyelashes.
Mistake No. 5: Wearing waterproof mascara all the time
While waterproof mascaras are best to wear at weddings, beach vacations and to sappy movies, they are not the best for everyday wear. Waterproof mascara won’t come off easily and removing it vigorously can tug and pull on your lash line, causing them to weaken and break. Therefore, opt for waterproof mascara only on specific occasions. You don’t want to deal with broken lashes every day, do you?
