If you have acne-prone skin, then you’re probably well aware of the struggle that comes with trying to conceal acne and scars. A little extra product and your face starts to look cakey; too little and you don’t get the coverage you need. So what’s a girl to do? Take notes from us, of course.
We have curated a simple step-by-step guide to help you conceal that annoying acne and those acne scars too and get a beautiful, air-brushed finish every single time. Read on to find out how it’s done.
Step 01: Prep and prime

Girls remember this – even oily skin needs a moisturiser to prevent your oil glands from going into overdrive. But skip those heavy cream-based ones, and opt for a lightweight, gel formula such as the Pond’s Super Light Gel Oil-Free Moisturiser and apply it all over your face. This will act as the base for the rest of your makeup. Next, use a coin-sized amount of the Lakme Absolute Undercover Gel Primer and pat it into your skin, focusing on the areas that get really oily.
Step 02: Conceal

Take a generous amount of the Lakme Absolute Mattreal Mousse Concealer and apply it over your zits in an ‘X’ using either a clean brush or a q-tip. The reason you should use a brush or q-tip is to prevent transfer of germs and the X-pattern ensures enough coverage without it looking cakey. Next, pat (don’t rub as that causes a streaky effect) the product gently over each zit using your ring finger to blend it all in seamlessly
Step 03: Blot it

Just like you blot excess lipstick after application, you must do the same with your concealer as well. Allow the concealer to sit for a minute or so, and then take a clean tissue paper and gently blot the excess. This will give you a really natural, skin-like finish.
Step 04: Foundation

It is now time for your foundation. Dot your entire face with the Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Perfect Coverage Foundation and blend it in using a stippling brush. This will provide excellent coverage and minimise caking, giving you an airbrushed finish.
Step 05: Set it all in

After foundation, it is important to ensure that everything you’ve done stays right in place for the rest of the day, especially if you have oily skin. Use a finely milled loose powder such as the Lakme 9 To 5 Naturale Finishing Powder and apply it using a large fluffy brush in a stippling motion to ensure that it all blends into your skin beautifully.
