As much as we all love foundation, we never want it to look like we’re wearing it. Foundation is the “base” your makeup needs, to look its best! Precisely why, it is important that your foundation not only glides on smoothly but also stays in place for longer without melting down or getting cakey. Well, if you think only makeup pros can achieve that flawless look you’re wrong! All you need to do is learn these rules by heart and you won’t have to ever worry about your face looking too made up.
To help your foundation fake flawless skin, here is just what you need to do...
- Rule No. 1: Exfoliate, hydrate and prep
- Rule No. 2: Blend Blend Blend
- Rule No.3: Foundation first, concealer next
Rule No. 1: Exfoliate, hydrate and prep
Before wearing any makeup, it is important to prep your face for the products. Dry, flaky skin is a dead giveaway that you’re wearing foundation because the application is not smooth. Slough away any dead skin by using the St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Face Scrub. Massage the scrub over damp face in small circular motions while applying gentle pressure. Doing so will deeply cleanse and exfoliate your skin, thereby leaving it smooth and glowing. Next, use the Lakmé Peach Milk Soft Creme Moisturizer so that the new layer of skin is soft and nourished. Wait for about 10 minutes between applying moisturiser and foundation. Following these steps will leave you with a natural glow.
Rule No. 2: Blend Blend Blend
Always remember that the way to flawless foundation is effortless blending. While your fingers work well for foundation makeup application, it is a good idea to use a sponge to achieve an incredibly smooth finish. The best part about using a sponge for blending is that it absorbs the excess product that your face doesn’t need. This, in turn, will prevent your foundation from looking cakey on you. Once you’ve blended enough, just go over your entire face with the sponge one last time for good measure.
Rule No.3: Foundation first, concealer next
If you put concealer before your foundation, you’ll tend to go a little extra with it, which will lead to a cakey look. Therefore, once you’ve applied foundation, blot concealer where you need it (to conceal problem areas on your face) and blend again. Make sure you blend enough for an even finish. You can use the Lakmé Invisible Finish Foundation – 4 and go over with the Lakmé Absolute White Intense Liquid Concealer - Golden Medium to achieve that flawless look.
