What is a primer?
Think of a makeup primer as a prep step to your makeup routine. It takes the form of a light, easily applicable cream which uplifts your regular makeup in a number of ways. On particularly dry skin, primer can be used in tandem with a moisturiser to provide a nourished base for the makeup to come.
Why should you use a primer?
To get the most flawlessly made-up face, of course. But seriously, there are so many reasons why you need to add a primer to your makeup stash.
Firstly, the application of primer increases the longevity of the makeup. As primer shields the pigments from being broken down by sebum, makeup stays intact for hours to come.
Secondly, primer lends the skin a more even texture. By filling in pores and scars which absorb more makeup than necessary, primer is all your face needs for an even toned finish.
Thirdly, when primer is applied, it acts as an additional layer which covers spots and imperfections to give the skin full coverage. This allows colour pigments of makeup to appear richer while less of it needs to be used too.
What’s a good primer for you?
When selecting a primer, we couldn’t recommend anything better than the Lakmé Absolute Blur Perfect Makeup Primer. This blush toned formula glides easily and sets as a matte finish onto the skin. Additionally it is waterproof, which makes it the primer to pick up if you’re looking for an oil-free, long-lasting makeup finish.
