Gradient lips is a popular K-beauty trend that consists of applying a darker colour on the centre of the lips, which is then faded out at the edges or blended into a different colour — so fun!

Perfect to pair with a highlighted, dewy makeup look — gradient lips are super easy to create, especially if you have this technique (that we’re about to share) up your sleeves. All you need are two lipsticks — a lighter and darker shade from the same colour family — and a flat shader brush to do the job. Follow this step-by-step guide to create a chic gradient lip effect.

Step 01: Start the with base

Swipe on the darker matte shade all over your lips. Apply just one layer and purse your lips together to evenly distribute the colour. Bl wotith a tissue paper first and then use your fingers to gently blend the pigment around the edges of your lips to create a blurred effect. Use the flat brush to shade to make the blending look more seamless. BB picks: Lakme 9 to 5 Naturale Matte lipstick - Flaming Red

Step 02: Fill the centre

Use a lighter liquid matte shade to fill the centre. Apply some on the back of your hand and then use your fingers to gently dab it to the lips. Focus on applying the colour to just this area and to make it look like the colour is fading into a blurred lip. BB picks: Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colour - Red Carpet

Step 03: Blend and lock

The final step is to purse the lips together and blend the colours. If you wish to add some shine, as your favourite K-pop stars have, add a dab of clear lip gloss to finish it off.
