Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 has begun and we could not be more excited. We round up all the makeup trends we saw on Day 1 and we bring to you our top picks. The makeup through the day ranged from experimental and edgy to nude and barely-there, each interpreting the individual designers' theme for their collection.
Lakmé has recently launched the Kareena Kapoor Khan Signature Lakmé Absolute range and we show you how versatile the products are by recreating some of the runway looks with them.
INIFD presents Gen Next
The makeup look for the five gen-next designers was edgy with graphic eyes. Black and red were the chosen colours for creating designs around the eyes. The rest of the face was kept simple with a clean face base and nude-pink lips. Eyebrows were brushed and filled in.

Start with the C-T-M routine and apply foundation. Conceal problem areas on the skin. Set with loose setting powder. This look is not for the faint hearted, but you can always tone it down. We suggest you use the Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Lip Definer in Crimson to line your eyes. This works well because lip liners have a waxy texture that does not smudge. Use the Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Brow Definer in Graphite and fill in your brows, and use a nude-pink colour on your lips like the Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Pout Definer in Blushing Temptress
Makeup on the models at the Urvashi Joneja show was striking to say the least. Again, the emphasis was on the eyes and the rest of the face was kept neutral. Cheeks were chiseled to perfection with contour and the hair was kept messy.

Start with the usual C-T-M routine and create a flawless base with foundation and concealer and set this with loose setting powder. Use the Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Eye Definer in Cobalt and line your upper lid. Use Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Mascara and apply two or three coats on your lashes. Use the Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Face Contour in a shade that is darker than your natural skin tone and contour your cheeks for a ultra-sleek look.
Ankur and Priyanka Modi
AM:PM showcased their collection with the models wearing moody brown and copper shades in makeup. They went against the current trend of thick, filled-in brows and chose to under-accentuate the eyebrows. So while the brows looked barely there, the eyes took centre stage with shimmery-coppery eye shadows. All the models sported an interesting detail in their hair. It was gelled and slicked back and a section from the front was taken below the right ear and wound around the base of the sleek ponytail at the back.

Start with the basic C-T-M routine and create an even face base with foundation and concealer. Set it with a loose setting powder. Use coppery eye shadows from Lakmé 9to5 Eye Quartet - Silk Route palette and sweep it all over your upper eye lids. You can mix and match the ey shadow colours to get a colour you like. Now use the Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Eye Definer in Onyx and line both your upper and lower lash lines. Use the moonlight Lakmé Absolute Moon-Lit Highlighter to accentuate the highest points of your cheekbones.
Abraham and Thakore
Abraham and Thakore presented their collection with their models wearing graphic eye liner and the rest of the face was kept neutral. The hair was also kept minimal and slightly messy. The eyebrows drew attention as they were brushed out and filled in.

Start with the C-T-M routine and apply foundation and then concealer. Set this with loose setting powder. Use Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Eye Definer in Onyx and cover the entire upper lid with the liner, making sure you taper it towards the outer corner of your eye into a cat-eye shape. This is a bold look, so practice it a few times before you decide to take it out for a spin outside. Use a nude-pink lip definer like Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Pout Definer in Blushing Temptress on your lips and brush out your eye brows with Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Brow Definer in Graphite and add the Lakmé Absolute Moon-Lit Highlighter on top of your cheekbones for a lit-from-within glow.
Amrich Designs presented their collection with their models wearing fierce warrior-like black-and-silver eyes. The rest of the face was kept minimal in pink. Cheeks were contoured with a hint of pink blush. The most interesting detail added to the look was the hair. It was banded tightly and styled into an almost architectural design of two circles sat one on top of another.

Start by creating a flawless face base with foundation and concealer. Set this with loose setting powder. Use Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakmé Absolute Eye Definer in Onyx to line the upper and lower lash lines. You can go as thick as you dare with the liner. Gently smudge the liner with the sponge tip provided on the pencil. Now for the silver accents on the eyes, use eye shadows from the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette in Silver and play around till you get the desired effect. Remember to have fun with this look as it allows for a lot of experimentation. Use a pale pink colour on the lips like Lakmé Absolute Matte Melt Liquid Lip Color in Peach Rose for a subtle hint of colour on your lips. You could also apply a little dab of the same lip colour on the apple of your cheeks and blend it to tie your look together.
