Awards season has reached its big climax with the Oscars, and you know what that means. Lots and lots of hair and makeup inspiration! The crème de la crème of the film fraternity puts on their best clothes, experiments with makeup and coifs their hair according to the latest trends, while we sit in anticipation. Well, Hollywood certainly did not disappoint.
Last night at the Academy Awards 2020, we saw some awesome beauty looks that we think you shouldn’t miss. Read on for a round-up of all the winning hair and makeup looks that were spotted on the Oscars red carpet.
- Lilly Singh
- Mindy Kaling
- Natalie Portman
- Penelope Cruz
- Gal Gadot
- Billie Eilish
- Scarlett Johansson
- Margaret Qualley
- Lucy Boynton
- Janelle Monáe
Lily Singh managed to make heads turn (and for all the right reasons). Dressed in a beautiful white dress, she looked ethereal. She complemented her ensemble with a beautiful golden and black smokey eye paired with a nude brown lip gloss. Simple and stunning, don’t you think?
We love Mindy’s off beat choice of colour for the red carpet. She paired her bright yellow outfit with Cleopatra eyes and nude glossy lips on a beautiful dewy base. That side-parted retro waves hairstyle manages to tie her entire look together.
If you want to know what simplicity looks like on the red carpet, then let Natalie Portman show you. Her makeup consisted of a matte base, blushed out cheeks and a thick winged eyeliner. But the chic, blown out bob wins the most brownie points.
Penelope Cruz looks absolutely breath-taking at the Oscars. She paired a beautiful black and white halter neck with dewy base makeup. Further, she accentuated the eyes with a shimmer copper eyeshadow and the matte brown lip helped complete the look.
The Wonder Woman made a stunning entrance dressed in a black and pink flowy outfit. She kept her eye makeup minimal with black eyeliner and an inner corner highlight. But the bright red lip colour provides a stunning contrast to the otherwise monochromatic outfit and makeup.
Billie Eilish looked grand in a furry white pantsuit. Her neon green highlights makes for a beautiful contrast against the white outfit. Also, you absolutely cannot miss her black coffin nails. We love the little stone detailing!
Scarlett Johansson looked out of the world in this satin nude off-shoulder dress. While she kept her base makeup matte and understated, her eyes stole the show. We love the shimmery golden-copper colour on her eyes, which she paired with fluttery lashes.
The Death Note actress’s hairstyle managed to give us some major hair goals. We love the intricate braided bun and are already looking for tutorials on how to recreate it. As for her makeup, she preferred to keep it simple yet stylish with a dewy base, brushed up brows and a peach lip colour.
Lucy Boynton’s hairstyle has to be, hands down, the best thing we saw at the Oscars 2020. She styled her extreme side-parted bob by sticking pearls on her parting. She paired this amazing hairstyle with gravity-defying lashes and a bright red lipstick. We’re in love!
Janelle Monáe exuded some serious queen vibes in this glittery embellished outfit. We love how the simple flick of eyeliner coupled with those seriously fluttery lashes is opening up her eyes. But what really caught our eye is the orangey-red lip colour. We think it helps tie all the elements of her outfit, hair and makeup beautifully together.
