There is more to clicking the perfect selfie than camera angles and filters… your makeup plays a vital role in making sure they turn out good. During the festive season, taking countless selfies will be the ideal activity to pass the time between virtual aartis and intimate bhogs. So you have got to make sure your makeup looks good in close up pictures. Here are a few tips to help you out with that…
- 01. Keep the base flawless
- 02. Eye makeup tricks to amp up the aesthetic
- 03. Bold lips mean a brighter smile
- 04. Highlight, highlight, highlight
- 05. Don’ skip the neck!
01. Keep the base flawless
To let the camera get up close and personal, your base has to be impeccably flawless. To do this, start by properly moisturising the skin to keep it looking glowy and healthy from underneath the layers of makeup to follow. Next, use a silicone-based primer to fill any fine lines or visible pores on your face. They help smooth out the texture of your skin as well. Follow this up with a full coverage foundation topped with translucent powder for the perfect airbrushed finish. Add a colour correcting/concealer step if you have visible blemishes that are a challenge to cover with just a foundation. Make sure to pick the right foundation shade as a lighter coverage will wash you out in photos.
02. Eye makeup tricks to amp up the aesthetic
Nothing demands max attention in a selfie than your fabulously done eye makeup. Use colored eyeliners to add dimensions, purple liners are known to make brown eyes look bigger and gold (festive too!) can add a lovely twinkle in your eye. Pump up the volume on your mascara and lashes for a statement-making look.
03. Bold lips mean a brighter smile
A smile is considered much more attractive than a moody pout! So if you intend on displaying a megawatt smile, choose a creamy, bold colour. If you are worried about coffee tinted yellow teeth showing through, pick a cool-toned pigment (like mauve) that can make your smile whiter and brighter!
04. Highlight, highlight, highlight
It is always recommended to take a selfie with a flash in order to better focus on your face. For a makeup look that shines through, dab a little highlighter on the inner corner of your eye, down the bridge of your nose, on your cheekbones and the cupid’s bow. Pick a shimmery eyeshadow over matte ones to let your eyes do all the talking!
05. Don’ skip the neck!
Just like your skincare, it is important to take your makeup down to your neck (and decolletage!) as well. Make sure to blend the foundation down your neck for a even-toned complexion that’ll look flawless in photos.
