The new normal in the pandemic era requires us to wear a face mask the moment we set foot out of the house. And in hopes that people keep following the rule, MUAs, beauty influencers, editorials and brands are trying their best to set fashion trends that work with face masks. Makeup trends this year have been all about drawing focus to the eyes — the only area visible while wearing a protective face mask. And looks like the eyes will be in focus even post the lockdown (or until we’re no longer required to wear a face mask). Here are five makeup trends that are going to be huge post the lockdown. Take note, ladies!

01. Falsies

False lashes might have been an occasional makeup item before face masks became the new normal, but in the pandemic era, they will be your go-to statement-making accessory. A good beauty tip will be to pair minimal eye makeup with dense lashes, and OTT pigments with fluttery ones to balance out the makeup look.

02. Matching your eye makeup to your mask

The matchy-matchy trend, where you do your makeup in the same pattern as your mask, has already taken off. Celebs like Ariana Grande have already hopped on the bandwagon and it’s about time you do too. Plus, it’s a fun way to play up the eyes if you ask us. Use the Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate The Gelato Collection to create quirky eye makeup looks that complement your mask.

03. Barely there eyeshadow

We love how the barely-there eyeshadow and the well-groomed brows add so much character to this whole no-makeup makeup look. Simply use an eyeshadow shade that’s one colour darker than your skin tone and sweep it on your entire lids. Then, groom and define your brows using a brow pencil like the Lakme Absolute Precision Eye Artist Eyebrow Pencil - Dark Brown. Add 2-3 coats of a volumising mascara like the Lakme Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara - Night Drama on your top and bottom lashes to make them appear fuller and to open up your peepers.

04. Feathered brows

Keeping your eye makeup impactful doesn’t mean that you have to go big on liners, eyeshadows or eyebrow fillers. Natural-looking, feathered brows are equally capable of garnering a second look on the street! Simply use a spoolie and a clear, glycerine bar of soap like the Pears Pure & Gentle Bathing Bar to brush your brows upwards and outwards for the desired effect.

05. Subtle smokey eye

Kourtney Kardashian paired a subtle smokey eye and fluttery faux lashes with her face mask and it looks so oh-so-stunning. Swap the black smokey eye for a cool-toned brown or taupe to recreate this stunning makeup look. Don’t forget to groom your brows and swipe on multiple coats of mascara for that added drama.
