Exfoliating may seem like the most complicated step in your skin routine but it is actually pretty easy, believe us. However, some people still do it totally wrong by either scrubbing too harshly or over-exfoliating and end up with a rash, breakouts or excessively dry and flaky skin.
Learn this three-step exfoliation routine to get clear and flawless skin without irritating your skin.
- Step 01: Wash your face with lukewarm water
- Step 02: Apply scrub and massage
- Step 03: Wash with cold water and moisturise
Step 01: Wash your face with lukewarm water
Start by cleansing your face with a mild foaming face wash to get product residue, sweat and dirt off your skin. Rinse your face with lukewarm water to help open the pores. This will make it easier to de-gunk clogged pores and better scrub the face. You can also cover your face with a towel dipped in hot water for a minute to open up the pores.
Step 02: Apply scrub and massage
Take a dollop of your exfoliating scrub and apply it evenly on your face. Using your fingers, massage your face gently in a circular motion. Start from the centre of your face and work in outward direction. Don’t forget to pay extra attention to chin, nose and forehead to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads.
Step 03: Wash with cold water and moisturise
After you’ve massaged your face for a couple of minutes, wash the product off your face with cold water. This will close the pores and stop the dirt and bacteria from entering your skin. Pat your face with a clean dry towel and apply a lightweight moisturiser right away to regain the lost moisture. If you are going out, follow up with a layer of SPF.
