There is an endless array of products that you can use for your skin, but once in a while going back to what your ‘dadi’ or ‘nani’ used to repeatedly tell you, is nostalgic and fun! Not to mention, effective! There are certain age-old remedies that have stood the test of time and we caught up some young Bollywood celebrities and quizzed them about what ‘dadima ke nuske’ they can share with us!

“I am a very ‘grandma ke nuske wali’ girl, and believe in home remedies. I keep trying something out every day. I don’t use creams on my face, instead I use a mix of honey and milk. I also use ‘besan’ and ‘malai’ as a mild scrub. Aloe vera, milk and curd face packs also work very well and this is the best thing you can do for your skin”

BB: Judging by how confident Ankita is in her natural skin, we will also be trying out her skincare tips!

“I believe in ‘haldi’, ‘besan’, ‘nimbu’ and curd (face pack) and that is my grandma’s ‘nuska’.”

BB: ‘Haldi’ is rich in anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties; ‘besan’ helps control oil without drying the skin, ‘nimbu’ or lemon is a skin brightener and helps with treating blackheads and curd also helps improve your complexion. So this works wonderfully well for problem prone skin and no wonder Rakul has such beautiful skin!

“My grandma really spoilt me when I was a child, and I remember that when I was teenager, she and my mom used to insist on rubbing pineapple on the areas which were prone to acne. She also used to make me drink ‘neem’ ka juice every other month!”

BB: Using pineapple juice or a slice of the fruit to treat your acne is a great remedy, as the fruit is filled with vitamin C, bromelain and antioxidants. It prevents the formation of fine lines and protects against sun damage and evens out your skin tone! Judging by Vaani’s near-perfect skin, we say the pineapple remedy has certainly paid off!

Richa Chadha

“My grandma always insisted on ‘besan’ and ‘haldi’ face pack and coconut oil, and I think it has paid off!”

BB: Coconut oil is a great moisturising agent and can help reduce the symptoms of acne. It is also a useful alternative to remove makeup. Massage the oil until the makeup is dissolved and rinse with a face wash! Richa’s skin is proof to the regular use of coconut oil!
