Cosy weather makes you want to layer up and drink warm mugs of hot chocolate, doesn’t it? Turns out, clothes are not all you should be layering up in colder months. Your skin needs layering up too! Wondering what we are going on about? Skin needs extra moisturisation in the colder months as there is a lower level of moisture in the air and lower humidity levels. So if you experience dry skin in winters, here are some makeup hacks that could save the day!

Exfoliate once a week

Exfoliate once a week

Everybody’s skin responds differently to exfoliating. So experiment with how many times a week your skin can handle exfoliation. But once or twice is mandatory to remove the dead cell pile up on your skin.

Give your skin all the help to make it look luminous. A trick many makeup artists use is adding a few drops of facial oil into your moisturiser. This will give you that little extra glowy-ness underneath your foundation.

Create a glow with bronzer

Using warmer colours on your skin in winters will give you a just-returned-from-a-beach-vacation kinda look. Use a shimmery bronzer just under the cheekbones for more definition and summer glow.

Switch to creamy/liquid formulas

Switch to creamy/liquid formulas

Switch to a liquid concealer instead of a stick concealer and change to a cream blush rather than powder ones. Turn to formulations that blend easily on dry skin, while also proving a little extra burst of moisture.

Seal your makeup with setting spray

Seal your makeup with setting spray

Instead of a setting powder, use a setting spray to seal the makeup and prevent it from budging. The powdery formula may dry out your skin and as a result your makeup may look patchy. Use a spray and hold it at a distance and spritz 2-3 times in a ‘X’ and ‘T’ motion.
