What better time than the start of a new year to make some healthy changes to your diet? We only say this because we still haven’t given up on our ambitious resolutions, and it also seems like a really good time to give our skin a much needed detox – both, inside and out. So, while we’re on the subject, here are some smoothies that your skin (and body) will absolutely love…
Honey and strawberry smoothie to turn back the clock on ageing
You will need 1 cup of skimmed milk 3/4 cup of strawberries ½ tablespoon of honey
Method Put all the ingredients in a blender and add honey as per taste
Benefits Strawberries are rich in antioxidants, which contribute to slowing down ageing and the appearance of wrinkles.
Papaya smoothie to deal with inflamed skin
You will need 1 medium papaya, peeled, sliced and de-seeded 1 banana, chopped 1/4th cup of coconut milk ½ cup of fresh pineapple juice
Method Put all the ingredients in a blender till smooth. Add ice as per requirement.
Benefits We’ve already spoken at length about why papaya can work wonders for your skin – the primary of which is the fact that it contains a big dose of Vitamin C as well as helps in healing skin wounds and inflammations.
Avocado and cocoa smoothie to help in the growth of new skin tissue
You will need ½ avocado (ripe) 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder 1 banana (extra ripe) ½ cup skimmed milk
Method Put all the ingredients in a blender till smooth. Add ice as per requirement.
Benefits Individually, both, avocado and cocoa are said to work magic on the skin. Part of this is because avocado is rich in Vitamin B, which plays a critical role in cell generation, thus, helping the growth of new skin tissue.
