Honey has always been one of our favourite ingredients to add to a smoothie or green tea, not just because it makes everything taste better, but it also does a lot of good to our skin when consumed. If you haven’t been using honey to reveal your best skin yet, then here are a few ways to include it in your skincare.

From moisturising dry skin to preventing breakouts, from soothing inflamed skin to exfoliating it, honey goes the extra mile to ensure that your skin looks soft, nourished and glowing. Cleaning your face with honey is a skincare practice that will totally transform your skin. The natural antibacterial properties of honey make it really useful to eliminate dirt, grime and other impurities from your face. It helps reduce breakouts, calm irritated, inflamed skin and thoroughly moisturises dry skin.

BB pro tip: Mix together equal parts honey and jojoba oil until it blends well. Add a dash of cinnamon to this mixture and stir properly. Massage this concoction onto your face to help loosen up heavy makeup as well as moisturise your skin.

Exfoliating your face with honey is a great way to reveal fresh and glowing skin. Honey is a humectant with natural antibacterial properties. It helps get rid of accumulated dirt and bacteria from the uppermost layer of your skin and prevents the occurrence of acne and other skin flare-ups.

BB pro tip: Mix together three tablespoons of coconut oil and with two tablespoons of honey. Add half a tablespoon of baking soda to it and mix everything together to form a paste. Massage this onto your face in a circular motion to thoroughly exfoliate your skin.

Honey is one of the most commonly used ingredients in face masks, and rightly so. Chock-full of moisturising, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, pampering your face with a honey infused face mask at least once a week is a great way to revive dull skin and keep it glowing.

BB pro tip: Grind a small cucumber to form a puree and add one teaspoon each of honey and aloe vera gel to it. Next, add one tablespoon of ground oatmeal to the mixture and blend thoroughly. Apply this mask to your face and wash it off with cold water after 30 minutes.
