So we all thought that 21 days of lockdown would soon end and we’d be back to life as we knew it. Well, turns out we’re still in lockdown thanks to the rapidly spreading pandemic. Sigh! While it’s crucial to stay home and maintain social distancing during these difficult times, all is not lost. You can make the most of your time indoors, and one way to do that is by pampering your skin because (A) extra time on hand and (B) salons are shut!

So instead of staring out of the window and reminiscing about all the mundane things you took for granted, we suggest you indulge in a cleanup sesh at home and give your skin some much-needed TLC. The best part? We have a step-by-step guide that’ll help you through the process.

Step 01: Cleanse

Step 01: Cleanse

Start by cleansing your face. Use a facial wipe to take the sweat, oil and makeup off your face. The Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes are not just super effective, but gentle on your skin too. Next, use a face wash to further cleanse your face and get rid of any product residue and impurities from the face.

Step 02: Scrub

Step 02: Scrub

Next, take a mild face scrub like the St. Ives Gentle Smoothing Oatmeal Scrub & Mask and exfoliate your face. This will help scrub off deep-settled grime, dirt and oil and also remove dead skin cells to leave your skin bright and squeaky clean. Gently scrub your skin in circular motions for about five minutes and rinse.

Step 03: Steam

Step 03: Steam

The third step is to take steam so that your pores open up and skin cleanses better. Boil some water in a vessel, take it off the flame and take steam by covering your head with a towel. Do this for five to seven minutes at the most. Take a blackhead extractor tool and remove the blackheads and whiteheads on your nose, chin and forehead for smooth skin.

Step 04: Tone

Step 04: Tone

Use a toner to shrink the pores, balance the pH level of your skin and seal in the moisture. Take some of the Lakme Absolute Pore Fix Toner on a cotton pad and swipe it across your face. It will help remove any remaining debris and leave your skin clean.

Step 05: Face mask

Step 05: Face mask

Here’s the fun part. Slap on a face mask of your choice and let your skin and yourself relax. A face mask will provide your skin with the essential nutrients and hydration to make it plump and soft. If you have oily skin, use a clay mask and if it is dry, use a cream or sheet mask. I’m enjoying the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque these days. It’s doing wonders for my skin! I simply apply the mask on my face and neck, and leave it on for 7 to 10 minutes before rinsing it off and voila!

Step 06: Moisturise

Step 06: Moisturise

After you’re done masking, finish your at-home clean up with a healthy dose of face moisturiser. Your skin loses moisture during the cleansing process, so it’s really important to retain the lost moisture and seal it in. Apply a moisturiser like the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Radiance Oil-in-Creme and follow up with an SPF.
