3 Simple Ways To Deal With An Oily Scalp And Dry Hair Caused Due To The October Heat
Written by Sumona BoseOct 21, 2020
After the much-needed respite that monsoons offer from the scorching heat, the month of October rolls around and we are back to square one! We have to deal with the extreme heat AND humidity from sudden showers that the month brings along with it. The sudden drop in temperature causes our scalp to overproduce oil leading to that greasy, icky feeling we oh-so-hate. The humidity further contributes to making the scalp greasier, resulting in overwashing to balance it out. All this does is strip your hair of hydration, even more, leading to dry and frizzy tresses. Not cute, right?
So, how should you be dealing with the sudden heat, while keeping your hair in top condition for the festive season? We have some tips…
Clarifying shampoos work to refresh greasy scalp by dissolving product, gunk and oil buildup from the scalp. They are formulated with oil-absorbing and oil-balancing ingredients that leave your hair feeling fresh. Make sure to follow up with a conditioner, and alternate with your regular shampoo in order to not overstrip your scalp of natural oils.
It is recommended to always follow up the shampoo with a conditioner, but that might not be enough to counter the drying effects of the October heat. Indulge in a deep conditioning session at least once a week to infuse moisture, shine and radiance into rough, dry hair. It will also help tame the frizz and keep your hair smooth. Make sure to apply the hair mask from mid-lengths to the tips to avoid making your scalp greasier.
As we mentioned earlier, constantly washing your hair is not an option for getting rid of the greasy scalp. Space out your hair washes in order to oil train your hair to be less greasy. To get rid of dullness and the dreaded weighed down feeling in-between washes, use a dry shampoo to instantly refresh your scalp!
