Ever heard of post-vacation withdrawal symptoms? That’s exactly my MOTD (mood of the day) all day, everyday ever since I’ve returned from my exotic beach vacation in Bali. From lazing around on the beaches all day and indulging in authentic Balinese cuisine to hitting the most buzzing clubs in the night, it was one ideal vacation. Having said that, this holiday could have taken a serious toll on my hair and skin had I not cared enough to protect it from the harmful sun rays and the salty sea water. Beach vacations are always harsh on your skin and hair, precisely why, you need to go prepared.
While vacations have a chill vibe attached to it, we often forget to take good care of our hair and skin, and later regret it! Well, because I’d done my homework well before leaving for my vacation, I had everything with me that helped me keep my beauty game going strong all through the week.
If you have an upcoming beach vacation planned, then here’s all the ammunition you need...
Thrive on sunscreen
I simply cannot stress enough on how important sunscreens are. With the extreme climatic conditions of tropical destinations, it is difficult to keep yourself (as well as your skin) hydrated. That’s when sunscreens come to your rescue. It not only protects you from the sun’s harsh UV rays but also prevents your skin from getting damaged. If your holiday destination is a beach, then remember to slather enough sunscreen before you step out. I used the Ponds Sun Protect Non-Oily Sunscreen SPF 30 throughout my trip and it worked well for me. Its non-oily formula was just perfect for the humid weather in Bali.
Buns and bandanas to your rescue
Even the water-baby in you will agree that the beach weather can take a serious toll on the health of your hair, making it extremely dry and frizzy. In order to not bring your hair game down, always carry some cute hairbands or bandanas along with you. They not only look stylish but also protect your hair from damage. My go-to holiday hairstyle is a loose bun topped by a hairband. Simple yet chic!
Minimal yet bright hues
While on a holiday, you obviously don’t want to spend too much time doing your makeup every morning. I love keeping it minimal most of the times. Therefore, when it comes to packing my makeup bag for a vacation, I keep it as light as possible and try to include multi-functional products, so it saves me time as well as space. My essentials are sunscreen, primer, BB cream, blush and a poppy lipstick. For fancy evenings, I reach out for my eyeliner.
