Keep yourself hydrated
Your skin tends to get dry due to loss of moisture, especially in the hot season. It goes without saying that a hydrated body means hydrated skin. So, increase your daily water intake to keep your skin hydrated and soft.
Apply petroleum jelly
Dr. Sunil Kumar Gupta says applying petroleum jelly is very useful to heal dry and cracked heels. We suggest you apply a small amount of Vaseline Original Pure Skin Jelly on your heels every night before going to bed for smoother skin.
Dress your feet right
Shoes with open back expose your heels to dry air constantly and the result is cracked heels. To avoid frequent friction and trauma, wear only comfortable, closed back shoes and 100% cotton socks and keep dry skin and cracked heels at bay.
Try paraffin wax
According to Dr. Gupta, using paraffin wax on cracked heels can help heal the damaged area. It gets rid of the dead skin cells and loose skin, making your heels softer and smoother. According to Dr. Gupta, adding ingredients like salicylic acid, lactic acid, urea or boric acid into the wax also helps heal dry skin.
Use a foot cream with the right ingredients
Use a foot cream regularly to avoid dryness. Look for healing and moisturising ingredients such as glycerin, lanolin, hyaluronic acid, urea, lactic acid, dimethicone and mineral oil while picking a cream for dry heels.
