When coloured mascara arrived on the trend scene, we were rather excited to try paint our lashes in varied hues. From blues to reds and greens, there are plenty of coloured mascaras available today. Wondering how you can wear them yourself? Below are a few rules…

Wear it with barely-there makeup

Wear it with barely-there makeup

It’s a basic makeup rule—you wear a bright colour on your skin but keep the rest of your visage subtle. So if you’re going with a blue mascara, keep the rest of your face nude. That way, your eyes will get all the attention. For those of you who want it subtler, only add mascara to your upper lashes.

Go for drama

If you like to go all out with colour, match your lipstick to your lashes. So if you’re going for a plum coloured mascara, make sure you wear a plum coloured lipstick too while adding zero colour to the rest of your skin.

Add a pop of colour to black

First, add your regular black mascara to your lashes and then go over with a poppy pink or a purple. This way your lashes will be a mix of black and a bright colour, especially for those of you who aren’t ballsy enough to colour your lashes all bright.

Wear the color-blocked look

If you want to go an extra mile while experimenting, match your mascara with your eyeshadow but add a white or silver eyeliner on the lower lash line to colourblock your makeup look.

Know what suits your eye colour

If you want to accentuate your eye colour, wear a mascara that will work for your eye colour. A green mascara looks beautiful on hazel eyes while a rich plum works well for those with brown eyes. A deep blue looks best on those with grey eyes.
