We’ve always been hardcore fans of the no makeup makeup look—be it subtle, tinted nudes or flushed out, luminous skin—nudes have never looked bad. But when it comes to picking the right shade of nude for our skin, Indian women always draw a blank.
That’s why, for this season of Lakmé Fashion Week, Lakmé joined hands with pro makeup artist Sandhya Shekar to curate a range of nudes with a hint of colour that cater to the diverse Indian skin tones—rest assured, there’s a nude shade for everyone in this collection.
We had a chat with Sandhya Shekar to take us through the collection in greater detail. Here’s what she had to say…
Be Beautiful: Tell us about your association with Lakmé...
Sandhya: When Lakmé got in touch with me about the launch of an exclusive nudes collection at the Lakmé Fashion Week, I was really excited as something like this had never been done before. The folks at Lakmé were coming up with 6 different shades of foundations for Indian skin tones which I was really excited about.
BB: What’s the biggest issue women face when it comes to picking out nude makeup?
Sandhya: Picking out the right shade of foundation is difficult. It’s also confusing to find a lipstick or eyeshadow that fits into the nude palette and yet, doesn’t look pale.
BB: What are the 3 makeup trends that you think are going to be huge this year?
Sandhya: Well, nude makeup is evidently big this year and is here to stay. It never goes out of style! Secondly, thick eyebrows, yes. But thick and brushed out, fanned out eyebrows are definitely in. Thirdly, it’s metallic makeup. A single tone of metallic makeup in the form of glitter or chunky pigments can really elevate any look.
BB: Your go-to nude product from the Lakmé Absolute Reinvent Nudes Collection?
Sandhya: I love the subtle orange shade from the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow Palette in Nude Beach—it’s my absolute favourite. As far as the lipsticks are concerned, the Caramel Custard shade from the Argan Oil lipstick range is my go-to.
The grand reveal of the products took place at the Lakmé lounge on Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week where Sandhya Shekar demonstrated how to achieve easy looks using the Reinvent Nudes collection on 6 gorgeous bloggers.
From kohl pencils in warm browns to subtle, muted shades of nail colours—the Reinvent Nudes collection has it all. Two days into Lakmé Fashion Week, we also noticed how nude makeup was a standout trend on the runways. So, we recommend you to get your hands on this collection immediately as it hits the stores!
