If you’re a college girl living in India, you know your college fashion is restrictive on budgets and sadly, unlike the west, we don’t get winter holidays here. So, you have no option but to get up and dress up for college in winters (which can be quite a challenge) even though you feel like staying in bed in the mornings. You can possibly not repeat the same clothes all 5 days of the week. So, here are a few winter outfit ideas for y’all to survive the whole of winters within a budget of 3k!
Sweatshirts are perfect for the college girl on the go as there are literally tons of ways to style them. We recommend picking shades of black, navy blue or grey to keep the versatility of the garment going with no matter what. Style it with leggings, denims or anything else as you please! You can never go wrong with a sweatshirt. We love this one from H&M which retails at 799/-. Cheap and definitely within your budget!
Give importance to layering
When it comes to winter fashion, layering is the most important. Layering gives you the liberty to wear your everyday clothes and still keep warm when needed. A woolen long cardigan looks stunning with a basic pair of t-shirt and jeans or even a dress paired up with boots. You can also experiment and take your look up a notch by adding a belt over the cardigan! We love this long sweater cardigan from Forever 21 which is for 2889/-
Stock up on fine knit jumpers
For days when temperature keeps dropping and rising like it’s some game (which is most days in Indian winters), selecting tops can be a little tricky. If the weather is confusing you, opt for fine knit jumpers that are slightly warmer than your regular tops. You can style these with denims, skirts, culottes and trousers. They look great when they’re layered too, so you can style it as per your convenience and weather fluctuations. We love this crossover strapped jumper from H&M which is for 799/- for the not-too-cold and not-too-hot days!
Opt for Ponchos
Too many sweaters, sweatshirts and jumpers can get a tad bit boring, and that’s not what you want to look like at college, do you? Ponchos add a fun, tribal vibe to your dressing while keeping you warm. You can choose from buttoned ponchos for layering, to poncho tops and even poncho dresses. They’re definitely one item of clothing that makes winter fashion fun. We found this poncho on Myntra on sale for 942/-. Not bad, right?
Accessories and shoes
Don’t ever forget to keep a beanie handy as it not only makes your outfit look a whole lot cuter, but also protect your ears from freezing. We often find ourselves covering our ears with our hair because we’re feeling cold. At least a beanie will save you that effort. When it comes to shoes, the best winter shoe would be a flat suede ankle boot. But if that’s too much for you, opt for sneakers. Try and avoid wearing open shoes during the winters. You can get these within 1,500/- at local stores!
Bollywood and fashion go hand in hand and there are tons of looks out there to keep up with. We’re always keeping an eye out for the best of the lot to give you all the fashion inspo you might need in life. This week saw Bollywood’s biggies step out in style, not like they don’t usually, but this week everyone’s distinct style caught our eye and we decided to put ‘em all together for you guys. You ready? Let’s jump right in..
We absolutely cannot get our eyes off Kriti Sanon in this Deme by Gabriella number. The wrap dress is gorgeously colour-blocked and clad in plaid which is our fave. She finished the look with classic white sneakers which could never be a bad fit on anything.
Sidharth Malhotra
Girls, are you already drooling over Sid’s super chilled out look? We are, too! He looked all kinds of cool in his casual t-shirt and joggers. But that hoodie especially has stolen our hearts. We love his fashion game and are sure you do too!
Alia Bhatt
Every time Alia Bhatt steps out in an Indian outfit, our hearts skip a beat. This time, she was in a stunning mint green and red combo by AM:PM fashion. The red dupatta instantly elevated her look and her understated makeup redefined simplicity!
Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan
The father and son were spotted slaying every bit of their colour-coordination game at Aaradhya Bachchan’s birthday party! They opted for casual outerwear over shirts or tuxes, which was fun and refreshing for us to see! And here they are, making the most stylish exit ever. Name a more iconic duo. We’ll wait.
Madhuri Dixit
The ethereal and timeless Madhuri Dixit brought her fashionable foot forward (as always) with a stunning pink saree by Jade for the Lux Golden Rose Awards interview. Madhuri’s everlasting romance with sarees is something that makes her stand out from the crowd and makes us wish we too could wear sarees like her.
Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa Shetty nailed every bit of power dressing in this unconventional power suit by Ashish Soni and shirt by BCBG for the Global Entrepreneurs Summit. She sported a stunning pair of Louboutins and a watch by Cartier to finish the look. Doesn’t she look fierce as hell?
Neha Dhupia
We’re crushing hard on Neha Dhupia’s airport look, the tan overcoat, in particular. And this isn’t the first time we’re seeing her in a trench/overcoat with casual separates and sneakers at the airport. Guess, Neha has her favourites and she has successfully inspired us to dress like her at the airport too!
Ed Sheeran
Last but definitely not the least, Ed Sheeran! There’s no reason he shouldn’t be on this list, so what if he’s not technically from Bollywood? He partied with the whole of Bollywood though, didn’t he? So, it counts. He looked absolutely adorable in his blue kurta when he played live in front of hundreds of people! You know how exciting it is for Indians to see white people in Indian clothes? We felt that too and he made it to this list!
That was this week’s roundup of celebrity fashion that we loved! Did you love it too?

How To Add Essential Oils To Your Winter Skincare Routine
Written by Vaishnavi ThakurNov 22, 2017
Ever wondered why whenever you visit a spa you just don’t feel like getting out of there? There’s something about the products they use, in addition to the soothing music and a candle-lit ambience that adds to a wonderful overall experience for you. You know what we’re talking about - Essential oils! Essential oils make everything better and are power-packed with skin benefiting properties. They’re used in almost every treatment/massage that you get in spas too! But, visiting spas all the time means paying through the nose all the time. Who wants that? Our solution is including essential oils in your skin care routine for max benefits and a spa like experience. Here’s how you can do it…
Adding a few drops of your favourite essential oil to your body lotion can instantly speed up the moisturization process and give you combined goodness of both your body lotion and the essential oil. We recommend using the Dove Nourishing Secrets Glowing Ritual Body Lotion combined with Sandalwood essential oil for best results. Just add the essential oil to the lotion and shake well. The lotion contains lotus flower extract known for its soothing and calming properties along with rice milk that deeply moisturizes your skin. Sandalwood essential oil contains anti-inflammatory properties that help get rid of scars, dry, itchy skin and also gives a cooling effect to the skin. This concoction will give your skin the goodness of all these ingredients leaving it soft, supple and hydrated! Apply before you go to bed and wake up to gorgeous skin with this mixture. This will work best during the winters for your dry skin.
Add some to your body wash
You can mix a few drops of essential oil in your body wash too! If you use a body wash that’s organic and unscented, the essential oils will help add fragrance too along with other skin benefits. We recommend using the most versatile Lavender essential oil for this! It detoxifies your skin, tightens it, moisturizes it and leaves a lingering fragrance. It’s so good you will constantly want to shower.
Essential oil lip scrub
A good, hydrating lip balm is one winter essential that you just shouldn’t go without. If your lips dry out a lot and you still haven’t found a lip product that can deal with your stubborn lips, we have a solution for you! Take 1tbsp of coconut oil and add 15 drops of Frankincense and Lavender essential oil each to it. Then add some sugar and mix well. Scrub your lips with the formula to exfoliate and get rid of every dry skin cell there is on your lips. Frankincense oil helps tighten your skin, lavender helps heal it while coconut oil moisturizes.
Mask it up
We’re all aware of aloe vera being a gift from the skin Gods to us because of its natural healing and moisturizing properties! Using natural aloe vera gel in the winters is strongly recommended to keep your skin hydrated but did you know you could add an essential oil to it and use it as a mask too? Carrot seed essential oil is not only known for its anti-ageing properties, but also is rich in Vitamin-A and Beta- carotene, both of which are known to keep your skin supple and prevent damage from free radicals. Mix 5-6 drops of carrot seed essential oil to 1/4th cup of aloe vera gel and apply the mask to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. This will hydrate your skin and also give you an enviable glow!
Foot spa at home
Your feet go through a lot in winters, from dead skin to hard, cracked heels and flaky bits of skin that you’re constantly peeling out. And while we invest a lot of time in taking care of our face, body and hair during the winters, we conveniently ignore the poor feet. They need hydration too and here’s how you can achieve it without any fuss whatsoever. Fill up a mason jar with white sugar, add half a cup of coconut oil, 10 drops of peppermint essential oil and mix well. Coconut oil will moisturize your skin, sugar will get rid of all the dead skin cells and lastly, peppermint essential oil relaxes your sore feet and refreshes them.
Remember to test each of these oils on your skin to see whether you’re allergic to any of them. Now that you know the different ways you can incorporate essential oils in your skincare routine, go ahead and show your skin some love with them this winter!

Good eyebrows are everything – they structure your face and enhance your makeup, no matter how dramatic or natural your makeup is. The 90s were all about the skinny, pencil-thin brows but we’re so over that trend and frankly, it’s never coming back anyway. Today, we’re all about the unkempt, bushy, thick brows! But obviously, everyone has different brow shapes so understanding them and filling them accordingly is a trick you ought to master. Scroll down to learn how…
You will need…
Investing in good eyebrow products is extremely important when you want to achieve fuller, Cara Delevingne brows. You can fill in your eyebrows with a brow pencil as well as an eye shadow that’s one tone lighter than your natural brow hair!
We highly recommend the Lakmé Absolute Precision Eye Artist Eyebrow Pencil as your go-to as it comes with a sharp tip that helps you get the strokes on point! It will also last you a long time and will give you the desired results in no time!
Eye shadow
Did you know that your favourite brown eye shadow could double up as an eyebrow product too? As most of us Indians have dark brows, the brown blends perfectly with the brows. The hair holds the powder pigment making it last longer and easier to set using clear mascara. We swear by Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette!
Now let’s get shaping…
Thin, arched or steep arched
If you have any of the above brow shapes, the key is to make them look fuller by creating an illusion of false hair strands. Start by brushing the eyebrows in an upward direction with a spoolie. You can also use an old mascara wand for this. Once this is done, grab your eyebrow pencil and create small strokes in the direction of your hair. Start with drawing the strokes in the sparse areas and then move on to the beginning of your brow. Remember to apply very less pressure in the beginning of your brow for it to look as natural as possible. Once done, take your spoolie/mascara wand and brush lightly again. We recommend the Lakmé Absolute Precision Eye Artist Eyebrow Pencil for this.
Thick brows (could be rounded or arched)" title="Thick brows (could be rounded or arched)" width="600" height="400" >
If you have thick, unruly eyebrows, you know the struggle you face with keeping them in place. Thicker brows tend to have uneven edges so the best way to define them is with a powder shadow. You can pick shades of brown, but remember to not use black powder shadow as it’ll look like someone used a permanent marker to darken them. Pluck the extra hair using a tweezer and get filling. Take very little eye shadow on an angular brush and start defining the edges (top and bottom) of your brows making light strokes. We recommend using the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette for the best results! Fill in any sparse areas and once you’re done, quickly set the brow with clear mascara or a brow gel. It’ll stay put all day!
Flat / Straight brows (no arch)
Flat brows have no arches. There’s no clear definition or curve to these eyebrows, but the best part is that they’re easy to tweeze as there’s no arches involved that you can screw up. The tricky part of these brows is that they can have scanty beginnings, so your main focus is to get the beginning right. Use a lighter shade of brown and fill in slowly to create a square-ish beginning. If you get too much product on, use a spoolie to blend it. Build up the colour as you start moving to the center of the brow and fill it a little further than where your brow actually ends.
Highly arched
If you have highly arched eyebrows, you’ve hit the jackpot! An already arched brow just needs to be defined from the arches and the sparse areas. For this shape, a nice, fanned out finish looks stunning just like Kaia Gerber’s. Use an angular brush to fill in the sparse areas and use your clear mascara/brow gel to create a fanned out look!

Amidst all the dark, twisted shows that are ruling TV right now, there are our beloved comedy shows – our quick escape from all the suspense and horror. Watching a good comedy show almost feels like having really hilarious friends who always manage to tickle your funny bone and turn your mood upside down… in a good way! Here is a list of our fave comedy shows that you should totally watch if you don’t.
What can be funnier than a bunch of hilarious cops working at a precinct in New York City solve high profile crimes in funny ways? The show stars our favourite ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘The Lonely Island’ star Andy Samberg along with brilliant actors like Andre Braugher, Terry Crews and Chelsea Peretti. This light-hearted, witty sitcom is in its 5th season now and is definitely binge-worthy, especially after a long day of work. You can watch it on Netflix!
Silicon Valley
The show is a hilarious take on the tough lives of 6 engineers/coders who are on a quest to create their own app and make it the next big thing in the high-tech world of Silicon Valley, California. We love the forever awkward protagonist Richard portrayed by Tom Middleditch and other cast members (T.J Miller, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Star, Zach Woods) whose comic timing is spot on. This is a comedy show you shouldn’t miss! Watch it on Hotstar.
A series of unfortunate events
A little different than the conventional comedy shows, the series is an adaptation of author Lemony Snicket’s book which goes by the same name. The show is the tragic story of three orphans, two teens and a baby (who is such a cutie) who are adopted by their evil guardian Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris). We’re sure this show will leave you in splits! Watch it on Netflix.
Bojack Horseman
Speaking of unconventional comedy shows, how can we possibly miss out on Bojack Horseman? Starring Will Arnett, Alison Brie and Aaron Paul, the animated comedy portrays the sad life of Bojack Horseman, a former successful actor trying to get his life together and failing to do so. This black comedy will definitely hit you hard and make you question the meaning of life. Sounds scary, but it really isn’t!
The Mindy Project
We all love Mindy Kaling’s character Kelly Kapoor from ‘The office’. She’s genuinely funny and cool and that’s exactly what she brings to her show ‘The Mindy Project’ too! She plays a gynecologist based in New York City leading a rather difficult romantic life. If you have a terrible romantic life, you’ll definitely relate to this comedy show!
Why Hostels Are A Better Option For Young Travellers
Written by Vaishnavi ThakurNov 20, 2017
Are you young and passionate about travelling, but always find yourself in a fix when it comes to the budget? Well guess what? This one switch in your way of travelling will save you lots of money which you can put to better use without regretting it! Whenever we went on vacations as kids, our parents always assured peak comfort when it came to stay options. But times are changing and so should your way of travelling. When you begin travelling with your own money, chances are you’re always going to be on a shoestring budget. This is where hostels come in! We’re going to give you reasons why you should switch from staying in hotels to staying in hostels and why they’re perfect for a young traveller like you. Sounds interesting? Stick with us..
In hostels, you don’t pay for an entire room. You pay just for a bed. Other amenities like bathrooms, Wi-Fi etc. are included in the final amount of money that you pay. In India, there are hostels in almost all cities and travel destinations where you can get yourself a bed for as much as 500/- per night. Whereas in hotels you pay much more!
The staff is great and you get to know the destination better
Hostel staff isn’t like your regular hotel staff. Most of them are very friendly and will sit down for a drink with you, discuss the destination in detail, give you all the info you need about the place, where to hang, what to do etc. giving you better knowledge about your destination. They’re more like your friends than just regular staff doing their jobs.
You meet people from all over the world
There’s more to travel than just beautiful locations, sightseeing, adventure and food. It’s the people you meet! And when you stay in hostels, you meet people from around the world, hear their stories, and get their perspective on travel. Honestly, it’s quite a culture shock at how differently they look at certain things. But culture shocks are our favourite kinda shocks!
There’s nightlife and other fun activities
Hostels are so much fun for people who have no itinerary whatsoever and are just up for spontaneous plans, or solo travellers! Most hostels organize fun tours like cycle tours where a guide takes you to see the places around, then have a meal together and come back. There are also activities like movie nights, barbeque nights and more. It’s refreshing to hang with people you don’t know at all exploring different places experiencing new things!
Hostel dorms are fun and cosy
Hostels have dormitories where there are bunk beds and you can choose from the various dorm packages that these hostels offer. Exclusive female dorms, mixed dorms, male dorms, AC, NON AC, and even with specific views example beach facing etc. You name it, you get it! So if you’re two girls travelling together or even solo, you have nothing to worry about as you can opt for a women’s dorm. You will always have the best conversations with your roomies before crashing!
You learn how to be independent
Some hostels have this amazing culture where you do your own things like cook your own breakfast and dry your own clothes! We Indians are pampered and super dependent on our maids to do our chores, but when you live in a hostel, it gives you a sense of how life would be if you lived alone and sharing your rooms both at once and that’s pretty awesome!
So, all you young travellers reading this, next time you’re about to plan a trip, be it Indian or International, choose a hostel for your accommodation. Eat a lot of food from the money you save and go home with a lot more memories than you otherwise would have.
So, you got your leave approved from your boss and your tickets are booked. You can absolutely not contain your excitement as you’re about to go on the much awaited winter vacay that’s been on your mind since forever! Nothing can be a better than a winter vacation, especially for us Indians. But the big question that always remains on our minds is – “What do I pack”? We’re not really used to packing warm clothes for vacations and chances are you will pack so much stuff, it might seem like you’re moving there forever.
But before you go…
Research about your destination
The first thing you need to do is open Google and check your destination weather. How much does the temperature usually drop during the course of the day? How will the weather be like during the course of your trip? If you’re doing multiple destinations, you need to check the weather of each destination and not just the first place you’re visiting. This will give you a clear idea of what you need to take along with you.
Check your luggage limit
If you’re planning to go shopping for your winter vacation, it’s wise to check what your luggage limit is as woolens can weigh a lot! And they’re expensive, so you can shop in control and buy only the stuff you need!
Once you’re through with your groundwork, get packing for your winter vacation…
These are the essentials that you wear underneath your warm clothes to keep your body warm. So, no matter where you go, you gotta carry thermals depending upon the duration of the trip. For example, if you’re going for a week, pack just two pairs as you won’t sweat much and can easily repeat it. Thermals also won’t add to the weight of your luggage much!
Beanies
Remember when you were a kid and your mom shoved your head inside a monkey cap on a winter vacation? Well, she can’t do that anymore as beanies are the trendiest winter staples everyone loves! Beanies look adorable and protect your ears from freezing; you can find some really cute ones at H&M.
Replace your tops with sweaters
You know there’s no point in carrying those cute tops that you love because you’re always going to be clad in sweaters anyway! No, we’re not saying don’t carry tops, just reduce the number. Carry a variety of sweaters that you can wear over your thermal (or normally, if it’s not that cold) and look like a fashionista anyway. Choose from turtlenecks, cashmeres, tunics and many more! Winter bombers look great too!
Carry pullovers for layering
If you wish to achieve a chic, layered look, carry zippered/buttoned pullovers! You can wear your favourite top and yet stay warm with knit pullovers. Another great way to layer your winter outfit using ponchos over your top and denim, or even over a sweater dress, if you’re wearing one! Pack at least 2 to 3 layering pieces including scarves! When it comes to bottoms, don’t carry too many. Jeans can be repeated without anyone noticing, so two-three pairs should do the trick. Also, don’t pack ripped denims. Hope we don’t need to explain why.
Boots and socks
Paying attention to what you’re carrying for your footwear is extremely important. Your feet tend to freeze first when the temperature drops so pack a pair of winter boots for sure. Tan boots work best as they look good with almost everything. We recommend avoiding any sort of heeled boots and just sticking to the flats. Pack a few pairs of socks for extra warmth!
Mittens or gloves
Just like your feet, your hands freeze too and it’s unbearable! Do you want to keep rubbing your palms against each other the whole time? We think not. So, don’t forget your pair of cute mittens! Opt for a muted colours that go with everything!
And there you have it! Your consolidated list of the stuff you need for your winter vacation. We’re also going to give you a pro beauty tip – always keep a lip balm handy! Happy vacay!
Ugh. Acne. Teenage girls’ biggest problem (apart from boys, of course)! Your teens are when you begin seeing the early signs of acne, and when it develops further, you know you probably have the tendency to breakout more. This could be because of many reasons, your pores could be clogged with oil and dirt and you probably had intense hormonal changes or your diet consisted of too much sugar and oil. Experts have also said that acne could be hereditary. And once the acne saga begins, it pretty much stays with you through your adulthood if not taken action on time. So, if you’re someone who has had this problem, you might want to scroll down for this list of acne fighting ingredients that you need to know about.
Don’t let the name freak you out as it’s only a naturally occurring plant extract! Extracts of thyme leaves are packed with antibacterial properties and have active substances such as Thymol (Thymo-T Essence) which help break through the cell wall of acne causing bacteria. We recommend the Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash. This is a cleanser you should completely trust and incorporate in your acne skincare routine. We swear by it!
Turmeric
Turmeric is the classic granny-favourite ingredient for almost any ailment you might be facing, be it internal or external. Have a wound? Smear some turmeric. Have a bad throat? Have hot haldi milk. The list is never-ending! But did you know that it’s also an ingredient that helps get rid of acne? It removes the p.acnes bacteria which are slow-growing, acne causing bacteria on the top layer of your skin. We strongly swear by the Ayush Anti Pimple Turmeric Face Wash which combats any rashes, bacteria and infections caused due to acne, thus preventing further breakouts! Ayush also has a range of turmeric induced products that you can use.
Green Tea
This antioxidant powerhouse is also packed with anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits that are great acne tacklers. It’s highly recommended to include green tea in your everyday lifestyle and also use products infused with green tea extracts! We recommend using green tea sheet masks for a cooling, soothing effect on your acne.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a natural astringent; hence, it tightens your skin reducing any large pores that are waiting to collect oil and dirt. The best use of ACV is when you use it as a toner on your skin. Dilute it with water (equal parts of both) and soak a cotton pad in it. Wipe your face with the mixture and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then, rinse it off!
Lemon
The citrus fruit is also a natural astringent that helps dry acne out, eventually making them disappear from your face! Its antibacterial properties help eliminate any bacteria which might fuel the duplication of themselves leading to more breakouts. Apply lemon juice to the affected areas with a cotton pad, it will mostly sting (in which case, you can add a little water) every day till the acne dries out. It’s also important to increase the intake of lemon internally for a healthy, glowing complexion! Switch your morning chai with a glass of warm water with lemon and honey to see the max results.

It has started to get a little cold and we’re already thinking about winter fashion. The season of cosy sweaters, beanie hats and socks is here. While in India, practicing winter fashion as religiously as they do in the west might get a little tricky, there’s one winter staple that can be used and styled any which way you want! Yes, boots! Boots have become common in India and everyone wants a stylish pair to elevate their basic outfits. You could be wearing something as basic as a t-shirt with jeans, but with boots you can instantly create a statement. Here are different types of boots you can get creative with this winter!
Thanks to Kylie Jenner, this trend is now a rage! Thigh high boots add just the right kind of length to your figure for it to look perfect. Our favourite way to style them is with a sweater dress or with a regular t-shirt dress for a winter chic vibe. Remember to show a little skin between the hem of your dress and the boots to achieve the perfect length!
Embroidered ankle-length boots
Embroidered boots are gorgeous but also tricky to style. There’s a lot going on with the design consisting of motifs and appliques etc. so, it’s best that they remain the hero element of the outfit. Achieve this by styling the boots with a mini-skirt and a sweater/top of a solid colour to balance out the elements of your look! You can also go for a tone-on-tone top and bottoms but remember to keep the boots striking!
Studded lace-up boots
Studded lace-ups again are an extremely intimidating design and if not styled properly, can go from whacky to tacky. Minimalism is the key while styling studded lace-ups, just like how Selena Gomez has. She opted for a basic t-shirt and black jeans but you can also wear a simple shift dress or a long, plain sheath dress.
Classic suede flat boots
Tan or grey suede boots are a must-have for everyone as they can be worn with pretty much anything! For these kinda boots, we love understated, casual styling which can include anything from sweatshirts to denims to sweaters paired with leggings and even dresses! These boots are great for everyday wear during the winters and are also perfect for that winter vacay you’ve been planning!
Glitter boots
Glitter boots are the biggest winter trend of 2017 and we can’t see why they shouldn’t be! These Kendall Jenner approved boots are hottest on the fashion radar this winter, so you should definitely get yourself a pair. Confused how to style them? Let Kendall be your inspo! Style them with your regular boyfriend jeans and a white crop top, or you could even wear them with a cute black LBD. Did we just sort you out with your Christmas/NYE outfit or what?!
6 Quick Fixes To Deal With A Bad Hair Day Every College Girl Needs To Know
Written by Vaishnavi ThakurNov 16, 2017
College life is basically being on your feet for most of the day. From travelling to running around hallways from one lecture to another, staying out in the sun, exploring various places and having the best time! Every day is such a rollercoaster ride that bad hair days are inevitable. And God, bad hair days can be mentally exhausting. You’re always conscious about how it looks; it feels icky and worse, it looks like a disaster in pictures. If you’re a college going girl who is always on the run and have no time for parlours, here are 6 quick fixes for you to deal with your bad hair days.
A teased bun is a great quick fix for a bad hair day because it takes under two minutes to do this hairstyle! If your hair is dry and impossible to tame, this bun works perfectly and you won’t even have to tease it. But, if your scalp and hair is oily, we recommend using TIGI’s Sugar Dust which is a root powder. It acts as a dry shampoo but also gives you volume, absorbs all the oil and mattifies any oily texture your hair might have. Sprinkle the product on your roots and massage till you achieve desired results! Tease and backcomb the hair for more texture, and make a bun. Your hair will instantly feel refreshed like you just shampooed it.
Braid it!
A quick side-swept braid will hide everything that’s probably standing out about your bad hair day. Oily strands, oily scalp, flyaways, everything! Apply some baby powder on your scalp to get rid of the oiliness. Then, collect all your hair on one side and make a tight braid. Once done, tease the hair a little. The perfect hairstyle for a bad hair day!
Tie a scarf
Dig out that old scarf out of your closet and put it to good use! Wrap the scarf around your head so that you cover the scalp and let the rest of your hair loose. You can also opt for a boho outfit to complement the hairdo. Works amazingly to fix your bad hair day!
Change your regular parting
Although changing your parting is recommended every 4-5 weeks, we usually keep the same parting as we’re comfortable with it. When you’re having a bad hair day, switch up your parting and see the difference. The volume of your hair will change and it won’t fall flat! You can do any regular hairstyle, but with a different parting.
Tease your roots
This might sound a little messy, but is actually helpful. Start with dividing your hair into four sections. Lift each section straight and begin teasing just the hair close to the roots using a tail comb. Flip the teased hair at the back to create volume! This automatically hides any oiliness and your hair looks styled.
When you’re dealing with a bad hair day, remember that using serums or hairsprays can worsen the quality of your hair. It’s recommended to stay away from any products which are not dry shampoo or baby powder! Also, it’s recommended to not apply any external heat to the hair. So, go ahead and bid bad hair days a goodbye with these quick fixes.

6 Bollywood High Fashion Movies To Take Inspiration From
Written by Vaishnavi ThakurNov 15, 2017
Bollywood movies are the primary source of entertainment for most Indians and they have evolved and how! Be it with respect to storylines, screenplays, female characters and fashion, obviously (We’re still waiting for that to happen with Indian TV, TBH). Amongst all things that can make or break a film, costumes is an important one. And when it comes to fashion, these movies definitely managed to crack the code. Let’s check out 6 of our favourite high fashion Bollywood movies that you can certainly take inspiration from!
This movie was loved by everyone for its ‘Gossip Girl’ inspired costumes and Pernia Qureshi did a brilliant job styling Sonam Kapoor, Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri, Lisa Haydon and Abhay Deol. The 2010 movie which was an adaptation of Jane Austin’s book ‘Emma’ proved to be a style inspiration for many!
Dil Dhadakne Do
The styling in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ was all about easy-breezy silhouettes and had everything from retro hats to party dresses, jackets, culottes and more! The film was shot on a cruise and also amidst exotic locations like Istanbul. The outfits looked perfect with the picturesque backdrops increasing the aesthetic appeal of the film and made us want to steal Anushka and Priyanka’s pieces.
Cocktail
The Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty starrer was like a breath of fresh air to the Bollywood fashion scene. From Deepika’s urban chic looks to Diana’s subtle style transition from ethnic to casual western, we loved almost everything about the styling of the movie! Vogue fashion editor Anaita Shroff Adajania also won the Colours Screen Award for the best costume for this film. Extremely well deserved, we must say.
Dostana
The movie was a hit, sure. But along with the movie what else became a huge hit was Priyanka’s ‘Desi Girl’ saree! Every girl wanted to dress like Priyanka who wore a quintessential Manish Malhotra number. Not just that, the movie’s costumes will give you some major summer holiday inspo!
Fashion
This movie starred Bollywood’s fashion icons Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut, it obviously had to be a fashion riot. Apart from showing us the supposed reality of the industry, ‘Fashion’ also gave us some stunning runway looks to take inspiration from. Our favourite? Kangana’s black gown, for sure!
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Looking for some fashion inspo for ethnic, festive, wedding wear? Watch YJHD. From Deepika’s stunning blue cocktail saree to her sexy haldi lehenga, we couldn’t decide which one was our favourite. Kudos to Manish Malhotra and Samidha Wangnoo for creating magic with the costumes!
6 Ingredients To Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Winter
Written by Vaishnavi ThakurNov 14, 2017
We’re in the middle of November which means that this is the official onset of bad skin weather! Dry, flaky, itchy skin is something we all face and it’s so not flattering! Gear up, ladies (and gentlemen too!) because you’re going to need to stock up on skincare products to see you through those wintery days! Ideally, you should take a quick trip to the supermarket and pick up all the products that include ingredients that will surely keep your skin hydrated this winter in abundance! Confused as to what all you need? Here’s a list!
We can’t stress enough about how much your skin needs hydration during the winters. If you had a sore throat, wouldn’t you keep drinking water? It’s exactly the same thing. The weather tends to suck the moisture out of the skin and it needs to be retained. Petroleum jelly is your best bet when you want to achieve this and what better than the good ole Vaseline Petroleum Jelly to use? It consists of natural waxes and mineral oils that lock the moisture in your skin. You can check the authenticity of this with a little experiment. Take a glass of water and tie a muslin cloth on the rim. Secure it tightly with a rubber band. Apply a layer of Vaseline Petroleum jelly and flip the glass, the water won’t fall off! That’s exactly how Vaseline works on your skin. Need we say more?
Glycerin
The main property of glycerin is its ability to attract moisture to the top layer of the skin where you apply it. It prevents skin from drying and external elements like weather affecting your skin. Vaseline Deep Restore consists of glycerin and also is infused with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly which triples the skin moisture. It is non-sticky, non-greasy and has a wonderful fragrance! So, go ahead and make this lotion a part of your winter skincare today!
Aloe vera Gel
The clear gel that Aloe Vera produces is known for its healing and soothing properties. If the winter is causing your skin to itch, just slice up the Aloe vera and use the gel as it is on your skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse it off! Aloe vera also acts as a moisturiser to your skin. In fact, you can also drink Aloe juice to boost immunity, detoxify your body and get a clear, glowing complexion from within!
Coconut Oil
This multipurpose ingredient is a winter skincare must-have. We recommend using extra virgin coconut oil for the best results! For dry skin, use warm coconut oil on the affected parts of the body and face before you go to sleep. Remember that a little goes a long way! Warm coconut oil can also be used to heal dry scalp.
Honey
Honey is packed with moisture preserving properties as it’s a natural humectant. This pretty much explains why honey is the key ingredient in many skincare products for dry skin. It is best to use raw honey directly on your skin. Cleanse your skin and spread a thin layer of raw honey evenly on your skin. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse. Your skin will feel instantly refreshed, supple and moisturised!
Avocado
Avocados are taking the skincare world by storm for all the right reasons! It’s packed with healthy fats that deep moisturise your skin giving it a natural glow. While using avocado directly on the face is a widely practiced skincare technique, for dry skin, you can tweak this method into something more effective. Whip up a mask using one mashed ripe avocado and honey until you reach a desired consistency. Apply on your face and rinse it off after 20 minutes! Drinking avocado juice, just like aloe vera, helps improve your skin from within!

The Kardashians need no introduction. They’ve always been in the news some or the other reason and their life is quite an open book thanks to ‘Keeping Up with The Kardashians’. Everyone in the family is a fashion icon and their street style game is always on point. Having said that, they do have a tendency to go a little extra with their outfits sometimes! Not that we’re complaining, only the Kardashian clan can sport outfits that are too extra for us to handle. Here’s a list of 8 such outfits which we thought were way too extra!
The kween of contouring wore this black mesh and sequined body-hugging number back when she was pregnant. There’s so much going on with the dress, we can’t focus on her face! The outfit was too extra, but she wore it anyway and made heads turn. Guess that’s how she rolls.
Kylie’s walking ‘Trophy wife’ dress
Kylie is quite a pro at blinding people with her Kylighters. She’s also a pro at blinding people with her outfit choices, this dress in particular. The gold dress was so extra that it shined brighter than the sun. Kudos to the photographers for managing to get amazing pictures of her despite all that reflective fabric. She does look gorgeous, though!
Kim’s audition outfit for a sci-fi movie
We all know that Kim loves her body-hugging outfits and decided to wear one for her sci-fi movie audition. We’re kidding. She wore this silver metallic top and skirt by Wes Gordon for the grand opening of Dash Miami, a new concept store in Florida. An occasion like that surely deserves an extra outfit, don’t you think?
Kendall’s extra AF couture dress
The supermodel is a style inspiration for all of us, and here she is, proving that sometimes it’s okay to go a little OTT. She chose this Elie Saab feather couture dress and coat at the Chopard Wild Party at Cannes in 2016. We rarely see Kendall in such pieces, so it was a refreshing change for us.
Kim’s mirror gown
For all of us who are true disciples of Kim and follow her on Instagram, we know how much Kim loves Balmain and Oliver Rousteing. And Balmain is all about the extra! She wore this silver mirror-esque Balmain gown at the 2016 Met Gala. The theme was ‘Fashion in an Age of Technology’, so it’s pretty self-explanatory why she chose the outfit.
Kris’s huge black fur shawl
How can we miss out on mommy Kris? She wore this red gown for her Christmas party which is gorgeous. But that obviously was not going to be enough! She beat the December cold by finishing her look with a fur shawl which added the element of extra to her look. We know where her daughters get it from.
Kim’s feather trail gown
This is hands down one of Kim’s most iconic dresses. The Roberto Cavalli gown had a huge feather trail which was MET level extra. The silver embellishments and the subtle skin show were the winning elements of the gown. We can only wonder how much did it weigh!
Khloe’s silver sheer dress
Khloe sported this “naked dress” at the 2016 Angel Ball and it was one of Khloe’s most extra gowns ever. We don’t blame her though; if we had a bod like that we wouldn’t think twice about flaunting it too! Although the dress is a bit too much, she pulled it off like a boss.
These were the outfits only the Kardashians can do justice to, no matter how extra they are.
In the times of shaving, waxing still remains to be a favourite hair removal technique for many women. One of the main reasons why women like to practice this foolproof hair removal technique is probably because hair doesn’t grow back for a longer time as opposed to shaving. But did you know that the wax itself has different variants? Every different type of wax serves a different purpose and caters to skin specifics that you may want to target. For example, chocolate waxing helps you not just get rid of the hair, but also rejuvenate your skin. So, if you’re a fan of waxing (a sentence we thought we’d never hear) here are different types of waxing you can try!
Soft wax is the most preferred and widely used form of wax. You know the wax that your parlour lady smears on your body? That’s soft wax (usually made up of paraffin or beeswax.) It’s further divided into two types—hot and cold. To put it simply and as the name rightly suggests, hot wax is heated, softened and is less painful as compared to cold. Cold wax is a semi-solid form of wax that’s already applied on the strips and it’s more painful but effective.
Hard Wax
Hard wax is used for smaller areas of the skin, like upper lips, eyebrows and underarms. This wax is applied on the area when it’s warm and then left to cool down and harden, post which the hair is pulled out. Hard wax does no damage to the skin whereas soft wax can really pull the skin, making it itch.
Both of these are suitable for normal skin, however, if you have sensitive skin, we suggest you stay away from both the above to choose something that’s more suited for you.
Fruit Wax
Do you have sensitive skin? Or does the thought of your parlour lady ripping the strips off your skin dread you? Fruit wax is here to sort you out. It’s enriched with fruit (mostly berries) extract and is rich in antioxidants that aren’t hard on your sensitive skin. It’s gentler than soft wax and doesn’t pull your skin. It can fall on the expensive side, but the results are assured!
Sugar wax
In sugar wax, or sugaring, the key ingredients (apart from sugar, obviously) are lemon and water. We all know that sugar and lemon are God’s gift to mankind, be it for food or skincare! You should opt for the sugar wax if you have oily or sensitive skin, or even if you’re prone to rashes caused due to unknown products. It’s completely natural and doesn’t pull your skin, although it can get a tad bit messy. But that’s almost every type of wax. So, go ahead and give sugaring a try!
Chocolate Wax
Chocolate isn’t just a calorie induced treat that we all love. It’s got a whole bunch of skin benefits that can help achieve younger looking, healthier skin! This property of chocolate is incorporated into waxing. Chocolate waxing not only removes the hair, but also helps you get bouncy, glowing skin. It’s enriched with oils that contain moisturizing properties! So, if you’re looking at combining skincare with hair removal, chocolate waxing is what you should opt for.
Now that you know about different types of waxes for hair removal, go ahead and make your monthly hair-ripping ritual a little more fun!

The weekend is here, and we’re sure you guys have started making plans. Just the usual, partying on a Friday night? We get it. We just can’t let go of some routines. The next day, you just want to make up for all the rest you compromised on, don’t you? The feeling of staying glued to the bed all day is something we can’t put into words. No matter how much your mom forces you to run errands; you know that getting outta bed is next to impossible. So, you decide to stay in! And what better way to spend this me-time than catching up on some amazing TV shows? It’s not really a weekend if you don’t spend all your day binging on TV shows and food. So, here’s a list of some of our favourite TV shows that you should be binge-watching this weekend.
This newest Netflix entrant was actually being talked about since quite a few months. People said that they couldn’t handle the intensity of the show. Starring Jessica Biel, the show portrays a dark side (hint: second degree murder) of her otherwise calm character. This was the easiest way to put it and not give you guys any spoilers, but trust us on the fact that this show is too interesting to not watch. The first season is out on Netflix!
Alias Grace
This show is based on the 1996 Margaret Atwood Novel ‘Alias Grace’. The period show will take you back to 18th century Canada. It follows the story of protagonist Grace Marks who is accused and convicted of a murder. The best part? It’s actually based on true events! Season 1 is out on Netflix and consists of 6 episodes.
If you haven’t been subjected to all the hype behind this show, you’re definitely living under a rock. The second season of this show is out and it’s extremely binge-worthy! You can also binge-watch season one and two together or probably do a season 1 rerun. If you’re new to this show, it’s about a town called Hawkins in Indiana where a kid goes mysteriously missing and a bunch of his friends encounter strange things (quite a literal show name) in their quest to find him. The show is a perfect mix of spooky and funny which we love! One thing that we assure you is that you will not regret watching it. Watch it on Netflix.

If pixie dust and shining stars make you happy, chances are you love glitter. You can spot it from miles away and are tempted to buy every glittery thing there is. With the party season approaching, using glitter to jazz up your outfit won’t hurt. Here’s how you can use glitter elements and become party ready in no time!

Glitter Pockets
Do you have a basic shirt/jeans or hot shorts which could use a party makeover? Basically, you can use anything with pockets. All you need is a piece of sequined fabric of your choice of colour. Glitter Shoes
Glitter shoes are available almost everywhere, even on the streets and also online. You can opt for glitter pumps, platforms, block heels to even glitter sneakers and slip-ons. Glitter Belts

Glitter Bags / Clutches
Invest in sequined clutches of a variety of colours to carry with you at any party. This is a great desk to dinner idea, if you’re heading out to a party after work and are running outta time to change, just carry this statement clutch and you’re sorted.
These were some fun, simple ways you could add an element of glitter to your outfit. But don’t restrict yourself to just these as there are many beauty and hair glitter trends that you can try that can add so much more drama to your party look. From glitter eye shadows to highlighters to even hair accessories with glitter, the market is flooded with these products! All you have to do is experiment.

What comes to your mind when you hear the term ‘vintage fashion’? Perhaps Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe or Grace Kelly dressed in some classic pieces that we love even after all these years. If you live and breathe fashion, you know how precious the retro vintage pieces of the 60s, 70s or 80s are. Be it pillbox hats or retro cat-eye sunglasses, we’re drawn towards splurging on classic vintage accessories and clothes even today. However, it’s wise avoid using so many vintage elements together in an ensemble as you don’t want to look like you’re cosplaying Audrey from ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ on just a regular day. What you do need is a hint of vintage (you can add one or two elements) to your otherwise urban look that’ll strike the perfect balance of the two. Here’s how you can achieve that!
You might have seen these on dolls you played with when you were little. Mary Jane is a closed shoe with a thin strap and a buckle. They can almost pass off as school shoes because of their distinct look, but vintage Mary Janes are made up of leather and are chunkier. Style these with your ankle length folded jeans and to take the vintage-y ness a notch higher, wear them with socks!
High-rise flared denim
70s and 80s were all about the classic high-rise flared/bootcut/straight-fit denim that used to be typically styled with a crisp white t-shirt. Skinny jeans were never in the picture and this fuss-free stylish combination was everyone’s go-to. What’s amazing is that this combination has gone through so many upgrades and versions and yet, is not outdated. Style the look as it is and add kitten heels or wedges to finish the look. You can also add converse shoes for a chill vibe.
Sunglasses
What makes this picture of Grace Kelly just casually soaking up some sun so appealing? Apart from her gorgeous, timeless beauty, it’s her statement sunglasses. This is an accessory that can give any urban outfit, a vintage touch. Choose from John Lennons to cat-eye sunglasses to take you back to an era you wish you were living in.
Tan Satchels
Give any outfit a vintage twist by opting for a cute satchel especially in a dark brown or a tan hue. These satchels were every 70/80s teen’s staple at the time! Accessories like bags then played more on the lines of easy to use, minimalist designs as opposed to over the top designs, now. Also, they’re too cute to resist, don’t you think?
Plaid skirts
Plaid was one of the most worn and loved prints back in the day. Almost every other woman on the street was seen sporting her favourite plaid skater skirt with a turtleneck top. Instead of styling your t-shirt with a basic pair of jeans or shorts, try giving it a touch of vintage by pairing it up with a plaid skirt! We’re sure the outcome will not disappoint you!
Are you now reminiscing the good-ole ‘Breakfast Club’ and ‘That 70s Show’ days? Good. Now let these tips help you add that vintage element to any outfit whatsoever with ease and make you go back in time!
