The hottest eye makeup trends for 2020 to copy right away

2020 — the year the world came to a grinding halt because of the global pandemic. But, fighting adversity is the very essence of being human and the fashion world has been a frontrunner in coming up with innovative ways to showcase their latest offerings during these uncertain times. From hosting digital fashion shows to brands showcasing their collection of miniature dress forms, virtual fashion shows are a huge hit with  AW2020 and SS2021 shows being held all over the world right now!

We are glad that fashion houses are getting creative and putting up these digital runways. The makeup trends that erupt from runways are often some of the most original and glamorous beauty looks to take inspiration from, and this season has not disappointed us either. Here are the hottest eye makeup trends to look out for in 2020.

01. Metallic shock shadow

Shock eyeshadows are already a big 2020 makeup trend but are created using mostly vibrant colours. The metallic version of this popular trend is equally dramatic, if not more. Winged out to amp up the ‘shock’ factor, this eyeshadow look can be done by keeping the rest of the face makeup muted with a hint of blush or sheer highlighter.

02. Thick winged liners

We love it when makeup artists throw it back to classic trends and pair it with fresh collections. The classic winged liner was given a pigmented update with a thick fill in clean lines that are unbelievably flawless. With lightly filled eyebrows and nude lips to complement, this year's makeup look can be paired with multiple outfits.

03. Temple drapes

Extending your eyeshadow to cover the temples is a chic way to introduce maximalism in your makeup. While this might be reserved for girls who do not fret to be *extra*, it can also be an eccentric look to create to update your Insta feed. It also uses vibrant red in order to contour and drape your temples, which is something we guarantee you haven’t tried before!

04. Printed eyebrows

Quirky eyebrow trends are having a moment in 2020. From grandma brows to eyebrow slits, most of these trends are high on the ‘shock’ factor. Which is the case with this runway trend as well. Printed eyebrows, in this case, a zebra print, can be created with colourful eyebrow pomades. Just start by filling your base in one colour and layer other shades to create a pattern.

Combining retro with haute couture, dusted eyeliners are minimal and go equally well with smokey eyeshadows and nude makeup looks like. They are easy to recreate too. Just take your eyeliner and draw a line close to your waterline and lash line; smudge it a little bit with a brown eyeshadow to give it a ‘dusty’ look.
