01. Blinding highlighters
Remember when we piled on highlighter to get the most blinding glow possible? Yeah, we’re not doing that anymore. With the gradual shift towards skinimalism and the au natural vibe, blinding highlighters have exited the picture. There has been a notable decline in metallic highlighters as well. Now, it’s all about adding a natural glow to the skin with liquid highlighters, illuminating moisturisers and radiance inducing skincare products. Whether it’s with a full face of makeup or a no-makeup makeup, soft luminosity is all the rage in 2022!
If you’re also a fan of the lit-from-within glow, the Lakmé Lumi Skin Cream will be your BFF! Its reflective formula makes your skin look healthy and gives it a 3D glow.
02. OTT manicures
Grand manicures with wild colours and stickers are out. Now it’s all about dainty nail arts that are everyone’s Pinterest dreams! All of 2021 and even in 2022, we saw pastels shades with floral prints. Holographic colours, glittery top and sheer glassy nail polishes have become fan-favourites. Safe to say we’re leaving long nails and over the top manicures behind.
03. Harsh contouring
We all love defined cheekbones and jawlines. But what we don’t love anymore is harsh contouring. 2014-2016 were all about making everything more angular with sharp contour lines using cool-toned bronzers. However, in 2022 we’re seeing an inclination towards warm-toned bronzers that add a rather sunkissed glow to the skin. Even if the intention is to chisel the face, it’s now done with shades that are more forgiving and blended out for a diffused look.
04. Slick hair
Okay, Bella Hadid might hate us for this one but it’s time we let go of that tight bun (literally). We all enjoyed the sleek, neat hairdos for a while but the fluffy hairstyles from the 90s are coming back with a bang. Voluminous hair with lots of bounce is what every client has been demanding from hairstylists. If you ask us, the wet hair era is finally coming to an end and we might see a lot more variations in bouncy hairstyles.
