Real Brides: Perfect Bridal ‘Sangeet’ Look Makeover For Know-it-all Bride Shivani Thakker
Written by Harshitha PrabhakarMay 24, 2019
It is the wedding season and we were itching to do something fun! We called for all the beauties out there who are soon going to tie the knot and handpicked a few to give them makeovers! Fun! BeBeautiful presents Real Brides in association with Lakmé Salon was an instant hit the minute we announced the makeover project. We received applications from many, many eager brides-to-be, and whittled to down to a few worthy candidates who fit the bill.
When we met Shivani Thakker, she came across as someone who knows her deal with makeup, skincare and hair, she is sure of what she wants. She wanted the perfect blend of tradition and modernity for her ‘Sangeet’ look.
We called upon the expertise of celebrity stylist, Divyak D’Souza, dermatologist and aesthetic physician, Dr Madhuri Agarwal and National Creative Director – Makeup, Lakmé Salon, Anupma Katyal and this is what happened next...
Skin
Dr Madhuri Agarwal’s work was made easier by the fact that Shivani was well aware of what her skin needs are. Shivani mentioned that she gets frequents breakouts on her face and has uneven body skin tone. Dr Agarwal’s advice was to get acne peel face masks which will encourage skin to regenerate itself. She also advised Shivani to never skip moisturisers and sunscreen and use physical blockers like a light-weight jacket when she steps out.
Makeup
Shivani is having a big, fat Gujju winter wedding, so makeup artist Anupma Katyal created a look for her keeping this in mind. Anupma always starts with the eye makeup, and then goes on to base makeup as this will help clear fallout easier.
Eyes – The eyes were kept neutral with a brown shadow blended on the entire eye lid and outlined with black kohl.
Brows – Filling in your brows and defining them gives better structure to the face. Never neglect your b rows!
Lashes – be patient while you attach false lashes, as they can be tricky! Use good quality adhesives, so they do not affect your skin. After you fix your lashes, line your eyes with a liquid liner to finish the look.
Face base – Anupma started with concealer under Shivani’s eyes and finished with foundation and a little contour. She finished with highlighter and blush.
Lips – Shivani was given neutral peachy-brown lips to go with the overall look.
Hair
Shivani’s hair was done in a very romantic loose braid and was adorned with baby’s breath flowers to go with the feminine outfit and soft makeup.
Outfit
Divyak decided on a Gaurav Gupta pale lavender ensemble that is the perfect blend of tradition and contemporary. It is a lehenga with an off-shoulder blouse that ties traditional and modern elements. It is not heavily embellished, so perfect for Shivani to dance till she drops at her ‘Sangeet’ ceremony!
Perpetually has OCD. Obsessive contouring disorder. Her idea of dressing to walk the dog includes cleanse-tone-moisturise-serum-primer-sunscreen-concealer-foundation-contour-powder-highlighter-bronzer-eyebrows-eyes. (Catches breath) She loves perfectly constructed sentences as much as she loves perfectly blended contours. Enough said.
