2021 is revamping the makeup scene and asking you to take more chances by leaving 2020’s no-makeup makeup looks behind and playing with some colour! We love adding pops of colour to our makeup looks. They are fun to work with, draw focus to a particular facial feature and can be matched with your ensemble to create a uniform look.
Each year, we see new colours taking the reins, and 2021 is shaping up to be quite interesting indeed. Ahead, we’ve listed down five colours that will be trending hard in 2021 and how you can incorporate them into your eye makeup. Excited? Let’s begin.
01. Champagne

The trendy tint to usher in the early new year is champagne. With shimmer and lots of shine, this colour will put you in the right party mood. Champagne eyes can be paired with a bold pout, and on-fleek contour for a drop-dead gorgeous makeup look!
BB picks: Lakmé Absolute Spotlight Eyeshadow Palette - Sundowner
02. Mellow yellow

When Pantone declared illuminating yellow as one of its Colour(s) Of The Year, we leapt with joy! It is always a treat to wear this citrusy shade, making for edgy and quirky eyeliner moments. So, if you are bored with creating graphic shapes with your black liner, we suggest swapping it with yellow and watch the compliments follow!
BB picks: Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ultimate The Gelato Collection - 08 Limoncello
03. Hot pink

We started spotting hot pink pouts in late December and were a bit sceptical about trying it out! But the shade nevertheless has become a trend and turns out, looks a lot better on the eyes. It is also a versatile colour that can do different things for different complexions, but looks chic and stylish regardless of how you decide to wear it.
BB picks: Lakmé Absolute Infinity Eye Shadow Palette - Pink Paradise
04. Metallic purple

Metallic pigments have transitioned from coppers and browns that we saw during 2020’s shaadi season, to richer berry and purple hues in 2021. Smoke it out lightly and pair with a bronzed complexion to keep the makeup looking bold, but demure. We are glad that the classic smokey eyes is being replaced with colourful smokey eyes since the former can be too tricky to pull off for inexperienced makeup lovers.
BB picks: Lakmé Absolute Spotlight Eyeshadow Palette - Berry Martini
05. Glossy blue

Blue is such a fun colour to wear, add to that a touch of gloss and you’ve got yourself a gram-worthy eye look! Glossy blues can be worn with completely muted faces and can easily amp up the drama on days you just can’t be bothered with applying a full face of makeup.
BB picks: Lakme 9 to 5 Eye Color Quartet Eye Shadow - Royal Peacock
