The Emmy Awards 2020 was remarkable in more ways than one. Not only was it the first major award show in the pandemic-era, but Euphoria actress Zendaya also went on to make history as the youngest nominee to win an award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama. The best part? Even though the award show was digitised, it did not deter celebrities from putting their most glam face forward.
While there were several makeup and hair looks to take inspiration from for the coming season, one makeup trend that ruled the evening was — bold statement lips. From bright pinks and plums to vampy oxblood lips, this year’s Emmys 2020 had it all!
We have rounded up the top lip looks worn for the 2020 Emmys. Scroll down to pick your favourite(s) and pucker up like the stars.

Reese Witherspoon’s red carpet style never fails to impress. This year, the actress wore a stunning black cocktail dress paired with a classic beauty look — Hollywood waves and a crimson pout. This classic combination worked really for the laidback vibe of the virtual show this year. The lippie helps brighten up your features and helps break the monotony of the usual vampy colours associated with Fall.

Fall lipstick trends are never complete without a burgundy lipstick and Yvonne Orji proves that once again. The burgundy lip colour exudes confidence and looks really great when paired with subtle winged eyeliner and oodles of highlighter.

Kerry Washington turned up at the event wearing an animal-print bodycon dress with sequined tassels. She matched this gorgeous outfit with a statement cherry red pout — oh-so-gorgeous!

Even though Jameela Jamil’s outfit was pretty low-key and casual, she more than made up for it with her peacy pout. That bright peachy pink lipstick paired with a white and pastel outfit transports us to the good ‘ol days when taking a tropical vacation wasn’t considered out of the ordinary. Which is exactly why this shade is going to be right up our alley this season.

Laverne Cox’s lip colour choice is by our favourite. Even though this bold oxblood shade might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it will make for a great statement lip look for the cosy and intimate festive celebrations this year.
