Valentino’s Spring ’19 show just concluded and we are still busy collecting our jaws from the floor. It was a jaw-dropping affair with strong colours in even stronger silhouettes, but balanced with utterly feminine elements of ruffles (lots of it!), lace and floral makeup.

Designer Pierpaolo Piccioli created a show which brought both model (Naomi Campbell) and audience (Celine Dion) to tears. Perfectly complementing his body of work was Pat McGrath’s ethereal makeup, which had petal-y, feathered out lashes. Everything about the makeup reflected all the current trends but also, was in harmony with the theme of the show.

Here is all things makeup we picked up from the show...

Glossy lips

The makeup was minimalist with sheer gloss on the lips. This highlighted the lips without taking too much attention away from the rest of the look.

Dewy skin

Nude, glow-y skin is scorching the runways. Barely-there makeup with the face highlighted strategically is totally ‘in’.

Petal lashes

We cannot stop staring at the gorgeously created petal lashes. Talk about drama! Carefully fixed petals, mirroring the colour of the outfit were seen on the lashes of the models that we are sure will last in our memories forever!

Sleek buns

With so much going on in the outfit and lashes, not much was needed in terms of hair. It was kept gelled back and tied into a low bun. The almost-wet hair look mirrored the glossy makeup theme.

The anti-eyebrow trend

With so much hype surrounding strong, filled in brows, it was refreshing to see natural brows on the Valentino runway. They were left unaltered and we are left wondering if this is a sign of a new trend – the anti-eyebrow trend!
