Be it K-pop music or the swoon-worthy K-dramas, Korean culture has become widely popular throughout the world. However, the one thing we are most thankful for has to be the Korean beauty trends that promise to make our skin looking flawless.

While you’re probably already aware of trends like glass skin or dolphin skin, there’s another K-beauty hack that’s taking the internet by storm - jamsu. This viral makeup hack gives you a matte complexion and also makes your makeup transfer-proof. Sounds exciting, right? Read on to know everything about the jamsu technique.

What is jamsu?

What is jamsu?

The word jamsu roughly translates to ‘submerge’, and that’s exactly what this technique is all about. So you basically dust some loose or baby powder on your skin after doing your base makeup (primer, foundation and concealer). Then, simply dunk your face in a bowl of cold water for 15-30 seconds. After that, just take your face out of the bowl and pat dry with a clean towel. The result? Matte skin and transfer-proof makeup. Now, we know dunking your face in cold water with makeup on sounds weird, but surprisingly, this trick actually works. The cold water helps shrink your pores and enables the base of your makeup to blend with your skin properly, giving you a matte finish and a flawless overall look.

The cold water also hydrates your skin and reduces the chances of acne as it closes all your pores and keeps makeup from clogging it. This hack is excellent for people with oily skin as it mattifies the skin and keeps your makeup from sliding around.
